Biwon is a Korean Restaurant located along EDSA. It is a sort of hole in the wall since there are really no clear signs indicating that on that little corner of EDSA, one can find the most authentic Korean restaurant in town.
Having been in business for more than 10 years now and a Korean Chef by the name of Mr. Lee, who has worked in the Presidential Homes in Korea, Biwon ensures that their Kimchi is made daily and that everything they serve will make you feel like you are in Korea, not Manila.
Upon entering Biwon, you will see that they are a no fuss no frills kind of place. However, don't let looks deceive you for what they lack in decor, they most certainly make up for in taste.
One thing I learned from Ms. Hong who was the one who invited us to Biwon was that Koreans love their beef, barbecue, and stew. Also, unlike the Chinese, they eat rice using their spoons. With this information, we were ready to be served.
The haemuljeon which sells at Php370 is good for 2-3 people. It is made of scallions, shrimp, squid, egg, and a whole lot of yumminess. I believe I had about 6 slices of this thing. It was just so yummy!
The chapchae was one of the better ones I've tried. It was cooked just right and it wasn't soggy or rubbery. Unfortunately, I was not able to get the price because I was too busy eating it. Hehe.

The samgyupsal (Php300) was my favorite amongst everything. The pork was soft and chewy. It was flavored perfectly. The fat was not icky to the taste and it was just really perfect with the rice. Seriously.
The beef bulgogi was one of the main highlights of Biwon. Priced at Php300, this dish is already good for 2-3 people and when this is served, you'd feel like you're in heaven. The smell, the taste, the look is just so overwhelming especially if you are a beef lover.
Now, this soup was a first for me and I thank Ms. Hong for letting us try this. The Wookukji (Php290) is good for 2 people. Now mind you, these 2 people should not mind a hint of spiciness because after ingesting a couple of spoonfuls of this broth, you can actually feel the spice seeping in slowly.
I loved it! It wasn't overly spicy but it was just enough to give you a slight kick. The beef ribs boiled over the red soup along with Korean veggies was absolutely perfect in washing off any hint of the bulgogi or the samgyupsal.
Overall, Biwon lives up to its name of being a "secret garden" in the heart of EDSA and in my humble opinion, it has managed to reach its goal of serving authentic Korean food.
