ASUS Philippines pulled out all the stops to #WowTheWorld, introducing the brand’s latest showstopping devices, the ASUS VivoBook S14 (S433) and S15 (S533).  Drawing inspiration from themes that reflect the ideas and attitudes of today’s youth, a.k.a. the Gen Z, the all-new ASUS VivoBook S14 and S15 are a pair of powerful and premium devices that come in 4 distinctive, youthful colors.

The features of both laptops enable its users to experience maximum performance and immersive visuals, all in an amazingly lightweight chassis, allowing you to work, create play and learn anytime, anywhere! And with the growing popularity on the mainstream VivoBook S laptops, ASUS Philippines also partnered with some of the country’s most inspirational content creators, who likewise showcase and embody the traits and ideals of the Gen Z.

Youtuber and Tiktok sensation Benedict Cua is the naturally-fun, adventurous Mr. congeniality, making him perfect for the Gaia Green color of the ASUS VivoBook S14 (S433). As a content creator, Benedict appreciates the NVIDIA GeForce MX350 feature of the laptop the most as this helps make photo and video editing up to 2.5x faster! With all the content he creates on a daily basis, Benedict also found his match with the ASUS VivoBook S14 thanks to its large SSD storage, allowing him to download, store and transfer his content without any lags.  And with the need to be online almost 24/7 to interact with his followers, Benedict relies heavily on the laptop’s Intel Wi-Fi 6 technology, which allows him to transfer and download large media files up to 3x faster.

Shaira Luna is known for her dreamy, signature style and aesthetic that underscores her passion for creativity, personifying the essence of the ASUS VivoBook S14 (S433)’s Dreamy White color.  As an on-the-go artist and photographer, Shaira relies on the laptops’ Full HD NanoEdge display to give her an immersive view on her photos and work. Further, the I/O ports of the ASUS VivoBook S14 allow her to have a seamless workflow while in studio shoots, making it easier for her to transfer files from camera to laptop and other devices. The laptop likewise matches her versatile and mobile lifestyle, allowing her to easily carry it around from one shoot to another, being only 1.4kg lightweight and 15.9mm thin.

Gabbi Garcia is the penultimate life of the party, always energetic, fashionable, and fearless. All eyes are definitely on her once she steps into a room, and this is exactly why she is the best fit for the Resolute Red color of the ASUS VivoBook S14 (S433). As an actress and a content creator at the same time, it’s very important for her to have a laptop that could stay with her all day long on a single charge, and with the large 50Wh battery of the ASUS VivoBook S14, she can definitely keep going for longer. Aside from this, the premium style and sleek look of the ASUS VivoBook S14, as well as the unique yellow color-blocking enter key cap, are the features that complement the lifestyle and image of Gabbi, as she is also known to always express her most authentic self, online.

Khalil Ramos is a naturally calm and restrained person, but is also known to be a leader, who is bold, focused, and decisive – all the traits that make up for the Indie Black color of the ASUS VivoBook S14 (S433).  A young man who wears many hats, he is also a multi-tasker 24/7, that is why he relies most on the latest 10th Generation Intel Core Processor of the laptop, giving him that extra boost of productivity. With a production house of his own too, the NVIDIA GeForce MX350 with NVIDIA Optimus technology Is his favorite laptop feature. This gives him the perfect balance between long battery life and strong graphics performance for photo and video editing applications, and of course, faster, smoother gaming.

The Asus VivoBook S14 (S433) and S15 (S533) also feature a comfortable, full-sized keyboard that contributes to typing comfort and accuracy. The keyboard is also backlit – which makes it convenient to type even in the dark. Further, ASUS VivoBook S14 highlights the power to create substantial change and connect with others through technology with the unique yellow color-blocking Enter Key, which is also dubbed as the “Gen Z Key.” The Gen Z can share opinions, create change, and build connections with just a push of a button! Nang Mawala ang Isa't Isa sa Atin

Sa buhay,
nasasaktan tayo
kapag yung inaakala natin
e mali pala.

Kapag tinama ka ng isang tao,
kahit gano man to kasakit,
tanggapin mo.
Kapag pinakita nya sayo
ang kawalang halaga mo,
tanggapin mo at magpasalamat ka.

Masakit man, magpasalamat ka
dahil sa wakas,
binuksan na niya
ang piring sayong mga mata.

Ang piring na matagal ng tumatalukbong
hindi lamang sa mga mata mo
kundi pati na sa isip, puso, at kaluluwa.

Magpasalamat ka
habang tumutulo ang iyong mga luha
Magpasalamat ka
at tanggapin ng buong puso
ang pagkawasak mo.

Sa iyong pagkadurog,
unti unti mong buuhin muli
ang sarili mo na nawala.

Nawala sapagkat inakala mong

Unti unti, mamaalam kana.
Alamin at tanggapin

Lenovo's K5 Pro: Entry Level Gaming Phone

I have a teenage son and I've learned in the past that if you want to see if a mobile phone is good enough for gaming, it is a teenager that should test it. They are the most tenacious when it comes to ratings and they are the most vocal as well.

When I got the Lenovo K5 Pro, I wondered to myself, "Would this be good enough to become an entry level gaming phone?" I had my son test it for a week and here's what he said.

Graphics wise, the Lenovo K5 Pro is able to deliver. It's easy on the eyes and the visuals of the game being played is crystal clear. However, when it comes running games like Mobile Legend and PUBG, there is a tendency for it to have delays.

When it comes to games like Plants vs Zombies, Pokemon Go, Rayman Adventures and the like, the phone has no problems. It does not need to constantly restart and everything plays smoothly without a hitch.

The phone is also more than enough for a teen to enjoy his Tiktok videos with the dual camera found at the back. It's presentable, classy, and definitely something that they can whip out and not feel left out.

Is this phone good enough for gaming? Yes and no. It's good enough for simple games such as PokemonGo and the like but not enough for Mobile Legends.

Is this phone good enough for videos and photos required for online learning in school? Definitely yes in my opinion. Kids can already do basic videos with this phone and the photos are clear, sharp, and perfect for Instagram and Facebook.

Would I recommend this phone to other Moms? Yes, I definitely would. Their kids can already use this for text, calls, to go online, take selfies, do TikTok videos, and for online classes. At less than Php10,000 this phone is definitely bang for buck.

Baby Khali's Blessing

The road to getting my son blessed was not an easy one.

Crazy right? I mean, blessing a child should not have been a hard thing to do but with the Catholic church acting very unlike people of God, it was a struggle.

He who has not sinned may cast the first stone.

It seems those who worked in Mary Mother of Church in BFRV, Las Pinas are perfect and have cast judgement.

They have REQUIRED that you be wedded in CHURCH before you can claim your child's baptismal certificate. In short, it is held hostage until you get married in a Catholic Church regardless if you are wedded civilly.

They DO NOT HONOR civil weddings even if in Philippine law, you are married already.

So we decided to find an alternative and thankfully, a friend of mine recommended Reverend Edwin Colangoy, Senior Pastor at New Covenant Manila Global Harvest. I emailed him, told my story, and asked if it was possible for him to bless my son in our home.

Lo and behold, he said yes without a fuss and even said that he was freeing me from the judgement I have received in Jesus' name.

Yesterday, our baby was finally blessed.

We invited only one Ninong and one Ninang to follow health and safety protocols against COVID-19. Everyone wore a mask the entire time and practiced social distancing. Everyone was also disinfected.

It was very solemn and I loved that the only focus was on our son. Reverend Edwin was such a delight to have.

Khali was also such a trooper. He had his vaccine before his blessing.

Family photo in our living room right after the blessing. Khali fell asleep haha.

These are our angels. They make life so much easier for us and they take care of Khali when I need to sleep.

I'm just really happy that my son has been blessed already. It gives me peace of mind and it brings me joy to welcome my child to the Christian world.

Mambo Chicken PH

Sometimes, you just need to treat yourself.

Lately, I have been cutting down on non-essential things because of the pandemic. After all, we don't know when we will be back on track or until when we will have our jobs. Nowadays, nothing is certain anymore.

However, once in a while, we all deserve to enjoy a treat or two.

Last weekend, my family and I were in for a treat because we had on our table food from Mambo Chicken.

We had the Original Fried Chicken, Tteokbokki, and Japchae.

First impression when I got the food was shock. Normally, serving in the Philippines is small. Trust me on this. Their serving was pretty big. When they said that it was good enough for 4 people, they meant it which I really, really liked.

I love it when restaurants are able to deliver on their promise.

This is their Tteokbokki which was chewy, had enough spice to give it a mild kick, and was just so good that a small part of me wished that I could eat this all by myself. Eeekkk. Greedy much?

I was just so happy because this one was cooked just right.

Mambo Chicken's Japchae was a great reminder of this Japchae that my former Korean neighbor would cook for us. It was the most legit Japchae that I have ever had and this one from Mambo Chicken is definitely a close second.

The Original Fried Chicken is very filling. The pieces are filling and heavy plus there's no need for gravy or ketchup. This is perfect paired with beer. Yep, chicken and beer.

We also had the chance to try out their spiciest chicken ever. Here's what I can say. If you're not a fan of spicy food, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT ORDER THIS.

I'm glad that Mambo Chicken is located just at BF Homes Paranaque. Now, when I want to treat myself and my family, I can easily message them to have this bunch of goodies delivered to my home.

Hummingbee Creations' Seafood Supreme Baked Sushi

Sometimes, you get lucky and you get the chance to dig into some of God's creations.

The Seafood Supreme Baked Sushi by Hummingbee Creations is one of those things

and I was lucky enough to actually get my teeth into this.

No, scratch that. I was lucky enough to devour this entire thing one Friday evening.

I know that I've written about baked sushi before and though there were misses,

there were definite hits. This one, it was a HOMERUN.

Containing 5 layer of awesomeness, this Seafood Supreme Baked Sushi put out all

the stops. It had Japanese rice, veggie furikake, mirin, tamagoyaki, cream cheese, kani,

mayo, jap mayo, pepper, cucumber, diced mango, sliced salmon, sliced mango, shrimp,

jap mayo, sesame seeds, and ebiko. Just reading it overwhelmed me.

Imagine taking a bite of this goodness? Out of this world.

It was definitely packed and the best part about it is that the combination of everything

made it absolutely perfect. This felt like the baked sushi to end all baked sushi.

It was just so amazing. In fact, this is the first pan that we actually finished in one sitting.

Normally, we'd have leftovers and we'd eat it the next day. This pan did not make it to the

next day. It went straight to our belly!

Hummingbee Creations' Seafood Supreme Baked Sushi is definitely something that

everyone needs to try. To order, contact them through Facebook. Make sure your stomach

is ready though because it's going to be filled with one pan of goodness.

They also offer Mascarpone Cheese Tarts and Cinnamon Buns, both of which were

a treat in their own right. The Mascarpone was eaten by Mark in a flash and the

cinnamon buns had to be hidden just so it can survive for two more days. I think that

says a lot about the dishes.

BDO Life offers protection from life’s ‘what ifs’

“What if she says ‘no’? What if she gets pregnant right away? What if she gets sick? What if I get sick?”—these are the thoughts running through the mind of a young man as he prepares to propose to his girlfriend in the newly-launched online video of BDO Life Assurance Company, Inc.

The video spotlights a man confronted by life stage uncertainties or the ‘what ifs’ that come with getting married, starting a family, and growing older.

“What if she wants a big wedding? What if she gets pregnant right away? What if we have twins? What if ours kids want to get double majors?” Like the video’s lead character, it’s
normal to feel uneasy over these ‘what if’ questions despite the excitement of beginning a life together. Fortunately, there is a way to address life’s ‘what ifs.’

“Everyone needs two plans in life. Plan A consists of a wealth accumulation program focused on successfully saving and investing within a given timeframe. But given life’s uncertainties, lifestyle needs, health risks, education costs, and other similar concerns, it’s smart to have financial safety nets, and that’s Plan B,” said Renato Vergel de Dios, president and CEO of BDO Life.

Vergel de Dios said that life insurance is Plan B. When Plan A is disrupted, Plan B takes over and infuses cash to complement Plan A. When life throws a curve ball, insurance money enables families to preserve their financial dignity. With sound preparation and planning, their lifestyle won’t have to change much—bills will be paid on time, children can continue their schooling, and there’ll be no need to agonize over expenses when invited to social occasions.

BDO Life’s video is part of its corporate mission to instill a protection mindset among Filipinos by educating them on the value of life insurance, in keeping with the company’s tagline, “We Protect.”

For Vergel de Dios, insurance is a way of life and a risk mitigation philosophy. The peace of mind that the financial protection life insurance provides is never a waste of money. If the insured makes it to retirement, they would be fortunate to have realized their life’s full earning potential. On the other hand, if tragedy and untimely loss happen, Plan B—life insurance—would act as a safety net and replace a portion of their lost income, the magnitude of which is dependent on the amount of their insurance coverage.

“There is a saying that goes, ‘No widow ever complains that her husband bought too much insurance.’ Try talking to someone who has lost a family breadwinner but whose financial burdens have been eased because of life insurance. Such conversations renew our mission,” added Vergel de Dios.

Before I start, let me clarify that I paid for all my meals and that this is PURELY MY OPINION. It means that I am not right but I am also not wrong. This is based on how I found the food, what it tasted like to me, and yes, how it compares to others that I have had that are similar.

These are food places that sell inside BFRV.

Hits: Chicken Sandwich and Chicken Taco
Miss: Chic-o-Sandwich

I loved their chicken sandwich and chicken taco. For the price, definitely worth every hard earned money. It's also best to be one of the first deliveries since the sandwich will still be a little hot, adding to the flavor and experience.

Price: Buy 1 Take 1 99. Definitely bang for buck!

This is a MISS for me. It comes in Ube and Caramel but instead of tasting like piaya, it reminded me so much of the Hopia Baboy in Ube being sold in Binondo. They should have marketed this as hopia. I would have ordered more.

Senyor Juan

They are located across the clubhouse.

Hit: Suman Latik
Miss: Black Kutsinta

Loved the suman latik. It was definitely something that was worth going back to again and again. Price point was also fair though I can't remember the exact amount. However, the black kutsinta needed to stop being so fake.

Come on guys! It's kutsinta colored black and then sold in an exorbitant manner. It's not good. It's pure hype. You're wasting your money. Buy the real deal off the street.

Miss for me. It was a good attempt but it felt like the eating the sad, rejected brother of C
Silantro. I know I shouldn't compare but I did and I was really hoping that it would be a bit close to what Cilantro has to offer especially in terms of the burrito.

It was okay. That's the problem. It's just okay.

I wanted something filling, something that would make me want to grab a bottle of ice cold beer, sit in the garden, and mull about how great the world still is because there's good burrito and beer.

This one left me wondering why I paid so much for something that felt lacking.

Ronelli's Bagel aka WhoaNellie

Grabbed this photo from their page because I forgot to take a decent photo of the bagel because it was so good! This should definitely be a staple in your breakfast area, I kid you not. Heat it, put cream cheese or salmon if you're feeling fancy.

I've ordered this at least 6x since I discovered it last Mother's Day. I think that already says a lot.

This is located along Gloria Diaz. A HIT for me. I loved their mushroom burger the most.

This is definitely a hit in terms of taste. I ate 3pcs in one go. It was freshly made and filling!
The first time I tried Kani Allie, I wasn't impressed. I thought to myself, it was okay but it wasn't anything amazing. I tried it a second time though when I saw that they announced that they made some improvements.

I'm glad I did. This time around, I was impressed with Kani Allie's baked sushi.
This is definitely a hit.

I was curious and I'm so glad that I gave in to this curiosity. The spam burrito was soooo good. Everyone in our family loved it and refused to share. I was glad that I got us one each.
This is made of seaweed sheet, Japanese rice, spam sticks, kani salad mix, Japanesse mayo, sriracha sauce, and egg.
Definitely a HIT.
I tried the Spicy Salmon, California Maki, and Ebi Tempura with Avocado.
HITS: The spicy salmon was on point. It was fresh, tasty, and refreshing. The california maki was good but nothing outstanding. Its the spicy salmon that was the real star.

MISS: The Ebi Tempura wrapped in Avocado was a downer for me. I had high hopes because it was the first time that I've seen an Ebi Tempura wrapped in Avocado. Sadly, I didn't really taste anything. No avocado, no shrimp, no mayo. I don't know what happened with this one but it was just bleh.

HIT. You can buy 3 pieces for only Php and even add french fries for just an additional Php20. The 4 flavors they have are:

Plain Dog inside dough + catsup + mayo

Dog + Potato Cubes

Cheese wrapped Hot Dog + Cheese

Half Dog N Half Cheese

They deliver within BFRV for a Php20 delivery fee between 3-5pm daily.
HIT. These donuts are definitely not just any ordinary donut. For me, it's not as good as Krispy Kreme but it has it's own personality and taste. I personally liked it and would definitely order again when I can.
Carnival Food Club Chicken Katsu

HIT: The Chicken Katsu was made of dreams. This was the chicken katsu that I was dreaming of for months and finally, I got my hands on it. It was HUGE, it was tasty, and it was just so good. If I hadn't stuffed myself so much hours before I had this, I would have finished the entire thing all by myself.

I asked the owner if I could have everything in a box of 10 and they were gracious enough to accommodate my request so I was able to try the OG Turon, the Ube, the Nutella, and the Pineapple one.

NEUTRAL: The turon was good. The Ube and Chocolate ones were also good. The Pineapple, I didn't really get to taste it. I felt like it was lacking.

So to be clear, it was good. It just wasn't good enough for me to order again, to look fo rit, to crave for it. It was just good. Nothing more. I was hoping that it would blow my mind and I'd crave for it again and again.

Now the cream sauce is a whole different thing. When you dip the turon in it, flavors explode and happiness starts seeping in. So if you will go and try Marcuzo's Turon, make sure that you dip your turon into the sauce they provide you with. Better yet, ask for 2 more of the sauce so you can thoroughly enjoy your turon.

MISS. Definitely a huge miss. Food, service, presentation, everything was just miserable. It was so sad that I could hear the burritos crying about the injustice of it all. It was that sad.

My order was supposed to be at 430pm. 449pm he was just about to cook. I finally got the food at 928pm.

Also learned that he has SCAMMED at least 3 customers. They paid, food was never delivered and they never got a refund. They were even blocked by the owner.

His excuses are ALWAYS the following:

1. Meat was not delivered.
2. Need to run to supermarket and buy the PERFECT meat
3. Line is so long
4. Accident in the kitchen. It can be a fuse blew up or he had to run to the ER but he will be back in an hour. Really? In this time of pandemic?
5. He will add meat to make up for the delay.

Other establishments I've eaten at here inside BFRV:

Which one is your favorite? Have you tried any of the ones I've tried?
