5 Brands that I Use for Khali

Khali is now in nursery and since he now goes to school, there are certain things that I need to buy for him and use so that he will be comfortable in school. As a Mom, we all know the perils and stress when kids are at school and we want to make sure that we can keep them safe. 

So, how do I do this? 

1. Efficascent Oil 

This is what I put on my son's tummy, back, and head when he finishes taking a bath. I use this to make sure that he won't easily catch a cold. It's important because kids tend to run around and it's an added layer of protection. 

2. OFF Sakura-no-Hana Lotion 

I use this to protect him from mosquito bites. We all know that schools fumigate but there will always be wayward mosquitoes and since I am worried about dengue and itchy marks, I make sure to put this on him before he goes to school. It also doesn't smell like the usual OFF Lotion. 

3. Johnson's Baby Active Kids Shower

 We use this on Khali since he runs around a lot. He's very active and gets sweaty so we need to make sure that he won't smell. This shower gel is already good for his head and body so it's a 2in1. Since he started using this, he no longer smells like sweat or the sun even when he's been out running. 

4. Johnson's Baby Powder 

This is a staple in our home since he was a baby. I grew up with it, my first born used this, and Khali will definitely continue to use this. This is what we use after every bathtime, when he gets sweaty and needs to change clothes, and at night to make him feel more comfortable and have a good sleep. 

5. Cough Patch 

I discovered this in one of those videos and decided to give it a chance. Since then, I have made sure that I always have stocks in hand and the moment I hear him coughing, I put some on his chest and back to make sure that it doesn't get worse. So far, it has been effective in the last year since we started using this.

Struggle #2: Avoiding distractions

Working from home can be full of distractions. Whether it's social media, household chores, or family members, there are plenty of things that can take your attention away from work. For me, the main struggle is spending time with Khali and working. 

He's currently at the phase where it's all Mommy, Mommy, Mommy.

Create a dedicated workspace

Creating a dedicated workspace can help minimize distractions. Set up a space in your home that is solely for work, and use it consistently. This can help you mentally separate work and home life, making it easier to stay focused.

Use time-blocking techniques

Time-blocking is a technique where you schedule blocks of time for specific tasks. This can help you stay focused and avoid distractions. During each time block, focus solely on the task at hand and avoid checking email or social media.

Use technology to your advantage

There are many apps and tools available that can help you stay focused and avoid distractions. For example, there are apps that can block access to social media during work hours or limit your time spent on certain websites.

Struggle #3: Staying motivated

Working from home can be isolating, and it can be challenging to stay motivated and productive without the support of coworkers or a boss.

Even for someone like me who has been doing it for over 10 years, it can be hard at times. Worst case scenario, I look at my bills to remind me that I need to work. 

Set goals

Setting clear, measurable goals can help you stay motivated and on track. Break larger goals down into smaller, achievable milestones and celebrate your successes along the way.

Connect with other WAHMs

Connecting with other WAHMs can be a great way to stay motivated and get support. Consider joining online groups or attending local meetups to connect with other like-minded individuals.

Take breaks

Finally, don't forget to take breaks. Taking breaks can help you stay refreshed and avoid burnout. Use your breaks to get some exercise, spend time with your family, or do something else that you enjoy.

Being a WAHM comes with its challenges, but there are solutions to help overcome them. By setting a schedule, prioritizing tasks, creating a dedicated workspace, using time-blocking techniques, setting goals, connecting with other WAHMs, and taking breaks, you can find the balance you need to succeed as a work-at-home mom.

A Letter to my Sons

Dear B and K, 

You two are the blessings I never asked for but have been so blessed to have. I never thought that I could love anyone as much as I love the two of you and I never knew that I could feel this kind of fear as much as you two invoke in me for even the smallest things. 

I worry about you two a lot. 

I worry about how the world will treat you. I worry about you becoming victims to bad people, bad circumstances, and bad environments. 

I worry about the age gap between the two of you, that by the time K is a teenager, B, you'd be in your 30s. Will you jive? Will you understand each other? Will you be there for each other if we're no longer in the picture? 

I worry if your Dad and I are doing the right thing with you two. I worry if we're being the parents we need to be,  the ones that you deserve, need, and you should have. 

Sometimes, I feel so down because I know that I am not what you need me to be. I'm short-tempered and I can go beast mode instead of being able to do some gentle parenting. I worry if I am traumatizing you for life and wounding you emotionally and mentally. 

Then I see you both happy and oh so forgiving. I see you B, happily dancing and singing. I see that you have grown to be so mature and understanding of life decisions, consequences, and punishments when needed. 

I see K ready to forgive and give a hug. I see him laughing so much that one can't help but laugh with him. I see him and I marvel at how blessed I am to not have one, but two kids given to me by God. 

I worry. I think any Mom would worry and worry but at the same time, I marvel. I marvel at how someone like me, someone who's not as kind as she needs to be, someone imperfect, and someone who needs to work on her temper can produce two beautiful boys. 

And so I will continue to worry but I will also continue to work on what I can and what I need to. Most of all, I will continue working on having a good relationship with your Dad and with others so that you will grow in a loving environment and hopefully be guided to know what is wrong and right.

Brands that are Khali Approved Part 2

Over a year ago, I made the first Brands that are Khali Approved Post.  Since then, there has been so many changes, discoveries, failures, and wins when it comes to products that Khali uses. 

A lot of people have asked what we used on our baby so I decided to make a new post of brands that are Khali approved.

1. Cetaphil Baby 

Khali has found a new love. Swinging. All-day, he does nothing but swing, run, and swing. This means that he ends up sweating a lot which can sometimes trigger his hives. We sometimes have to bathe him at least 5x in a day. Thankfully, Cetaphil Baby products can be used for frequent washing without drying out the skin. In fact, it keeps skin moist and hydrated.

I use Cetaphil Baby Moisturising Bath & Wash to wash him and make sure all dirt is removed. Afterward, I follow it up with Cetaphil Baby Advanced Protection Cream. I make sure that I cover all his exposed skin because these are most prone to hives and really dry patches.

Combined, these 2 products work hand in hand in providing more moisturization and soothing ingredients to address the dry, irritated skin of babies so Khali can safely play all day.

I really love the fact that it's so gentle on Khali's skin because of its 5-fold protection. It checks all the boxes – gentle, soothing, hypoallergenic, helps seal in moisture, and protects baby’s skin barrier.

AWS has allowed Edamama to scale the technological infrastructure easily. With the team scaling from 3- 20 team members in a span of 8 months--the infrastructure was able to catch up easily. Edamama was able to use AWS CDK to streamline development operations. During this time, their user base also increased from 100 concurrent users to 500 concurrent users, with the help of AWS, they were able to scale easily by using the scalable serverless architecture that is offered on the platform. 

With a partnership like this between Edamama and AWS, we can only expect bigger and better things from the country's leading Mother and Child platform. As a mom myself, I can't help but feel excited and I look forward to being able to buy quality items for my baby and know that what I am purchasing online will be just as good, if not better, than something that I would personally buy from a boutique face to face.
