Review of Photobook Deals

I have been a user of Photobook for the longest time. I am not an affiliate nor have they ever tapped me for collaboration but I make it a point that when they have their promos or deals, I would take advantage of them.  

I started with printing photos by the hundreds. I still have them but sadly, they are still in boxes and have not been sorted and placed in photo albums. I realized that it would take more time, time that I no longer really have for the time being. 

This was when I realized that they also have photobooks and I can instead use that. 

This is what I normally look for. If I see 80% and up as a discount, that's a good deal for me since a regular photo book costs Php1400. With a discount, it can cost less than Php400. 

What I like about this is that they have an automated sorter, sort of like someone who will just sort the photos for you inside the album AI way. This was heaven-sent for me even though there are some photos that you still need to edit a little because it was placed in the middle but it definitely cut down sorting time by hours. 

Yes, hours.  

Simply choosing photos to include took me at least 2 hours. I was actually shocked and this was on a per-year basis. It can be tedious but I really wanted to be able to document my year in photos.

Review of the Starbucks 2023 Philiipine Planner

I have collected these planners since 2004 when they were first released. Every year, I would get at least 3, and this has become an annual thing. Ever since they decided to go for moleskin, I've used it less and less and just acquire it for the sake of acquiring it. 

I thought, "there's so little space to write on, I can't fit everything I have planned for a day."

This year, I still got the planner on the first day and as always, here's my review. 

The cover of the Starbucks 2023 Philippine Planner is smooth. I thought there would be a gritty feel toward it, but there's none. It's a smooth surface, and it's available in two colors, black and gold. 

The thickness of the planner is just right. It's not too thin but also not too thick. 

At first glance, my initial impression was that it was small but classy. It's definitely something that even a boss would bring around with her. 

The cover page of each month is the standard Starbucks design that we have all become familiar with. I won't say love because it's fairly common now. I wish they would tap new artists yearly on not to be scared to make some changes. A surprising design would actually be good. 

The Starbucks 2023 Philippine Planner comes with grid pages perfect for bullet journaling. 

What I truly dislike are the weekly pages. As you can see, the pages are already small and so the lines where you can jot down your plans for the day are even smaller. Seriously, this is not functional at all. 

The layout reminds me of those TN or Hobonichi. It's lengthwise and really minimalist. 

The Starbucks 2023 Philippine Planner also comes with a pen but there's nothing really outstanding about the pen. It's just your typical "Parker-ish" pen. 

One thing I do love about it aside from the leather cover is the pocket insert. It can hold small receipts, mementos, and the like.

Quick Review of the ASUS Vivo Flipbook 14

I've had my hands on the ASUS Vivo Flipbook 14 for over a week now and I've been able to play with it in my spare time. Some of you have requested that I do a quick lifestyle review to know if it's worth the money that you will spend and if it's something that I'd recommend so I decided to do a quick review of it. 

Here are the things that I loved about the ASUS Vivo Flipbook 14. 

First of all, it has a good screen size. It's not too small but it's also not too big. At 14 inches and with a really thin bezel, it's perfect especially when you convert it to a tablet. As a laptop, it's also the perfect size for viewing schoolwork, documents, gaming, or even editing videos. 

The i7 16GB RAM is more than adequate. I am able to process videos and edit photos without any problem. I'm also able to stream and run multiple tabs without anything slowing down. 

The screen quality of the ASUS Vivo Flipbook 14 is also good. There's no color disruption and the glare is not hurtful to the eyes even when I was using it for 6 hours straight. 

I super love the touchscreen feature because it is very reactive. There's no delay at all and it runs very smoothly. The stylus that it comes with is also very sleek and stylish. 

Now as a music lover and someone who plays music in the background at all times, I like that the speaker of the ASUS Vivo Flipbook is clear and crisp. Good thing that the battery life is also decent and can last for a while. 

Now, here are the things that I believe can still be improved. 

As a flipbook, I was hoping that when the ASUS Vivo Flipbook 14 would be seamless when being flipped. However, this is not the case for now. 

The power button was also a little bit of a struggle since it's placed on the side and not where it's normally placed but this is a minor thing because it would only be the initial introduction to the machine that would put you off or make you feel a bit silly. 

The stylus pen has no labels. It' was a trial and error for me. I didn't know which was the power button or what the purpose of the other buttons was initially. 

VERDICT 

Overall, I loved the ASUS Vivo Flipbook 14. The ones that needed improvement were all minor things and all the major things to consider passed with flying colors. For me, this is perfect for students, artists, professionals that need flexibility when it comes to their laptops, and for those who need to do presentations at all times. 

It is durable, stylish, flexible, and can definitely meet more than the basic requirements of an average laptop / tablet user.

Initial Thoughts about the Canon Pixma G3020

5 years ago, I won a printer from a raffle. Since then, I've only used that printer for all my daily needs. I loved this printer though I always wished that the photo output was more vibrant and long-lasting. 

Some people told me that for those needs of mine, I should try a Canon printer. Over the years, I would hear Canon being recommended whenever I would talk about my journaling or memory-keeping projects. Finally, I bit the bullet and now have a Canon Pixma G3020. 

First Impressions

I loved that it was not as bulky as my previous printer. It had the same purpose as being a scanner, copier, and printer but this was far less bulky. This meant that it was also not as heavy which is a definite plus because I tend to move my things around in my little office whenever I feel stuck and looking for an idea.

Aesthetics 

I love that it's a sleek combo of gray and black. It's not hard to fit into the overall design of my workspace though if it came in baby pink, it would be so much better. Ahem ahem. Pastel-colored printer collection please hahaha. 

Speed of Printing 

My old printer would take ages to print. One page can take more than one minute and if I use the best print options, it can take at least 5 minutes even. When you're in a rush to do something, this can be frustrating. 

Noise 

This is the one thing that I don't like so much about the Canon Pixma G3020. It's a bit noisier than my old printer. However, this is something that I can live with for sure. 

Overall, I'm very happy with the performance of the Canon Pixma G3020. I've tried printing 300+ pages and it took less than 30 minutes for everything to get printed out. Definitely impressed me. 

Now, I just need to see how it does when I print photos and stickers. I hope that it will produce really good quality photos and clear stickers so that I can finally have an all in one printer that serves the needs of my son for his modules as well as my journaling and memory keeping needs.

Review of Lola Remedios

Truth be told, I am one of the few who has never ever tried Lola Remedios. I kept hearing about them from people around as well as radio commercials but I have never tried one. I did have a good impression about it because people seem to always mention it on a good note. 

Thankfully, I finally got the chance to try it out myself. 

Lola Remedios is an all-natural, ready-to-drink food supplement. Ideally, you should only have 1-3 sachets a day and this can be taken with or without food. Just be sure that you are not allergic to menthol flavors because this packs a lot of menthols. 

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, don't drink this unless approved by your OB-GYN. 

Made with mint, honey, ginger, clove, fennel, peppermint oil, Indian screw, palm sugar, sucrose, and water, the drink has gained popularity in recent years for being a supposed cure-all for everything from coughs and fever to colds. 

A product originally from Indonesia, Lola Remedios is also supposed to "increase energy levels, reduce fatigue, relieve body pains and aches in the mouth, ease allergies, improve digestion, and relieve stomach discomforts." This is why so many people think of it as some kind of miracle cure.

I've tried this out for some back pain and I have to say that the taste is great though I may be biased since I love menthol. It didn't have an immediate effect on me but I did feel relaxed after an hour or so. 

I'm definitely making Lola Remedios a part of our household from now on. I may not have known about them before but I'm definitely keeping them in my life from now on. 

Review of the ASUS Zenbook 14 UX425 in Lilac Mist

If there was ever a laptop that caught my eye the moment I saw it, It was the ASUS Zenbook 14 UX425 in Lilac Mist, World’s thinnest 14” laptop with full I/O Ports. If the laptop was a person, I would describe it as love at first sight. 

I loved how thin it was, how big it was, and how light it was. 

With the ASUS Zenbook, I already know that it is durable. I got one 3 years ago and it is performing the same way it has for the past 3years. I have not had a problem with it and it is just amazing. So I knew that I was in for a treat with the Zenbook 14 UX425. 

COLOR: LILAC MIST

The first thing that I really love about this laptop is the color. My favorite color is purple and since lilac is in the same family as purple, I love it. I also love that the color is not too in your face. It's girly but it's still professional enough for people to take you seriously when you whip it out. 

Full I/O Ports

The other thing that I love about the ASUS Zenbook 14 UX425 is that it has full I/O ports. It comes with a microSD reader, USB 3.2 Type-A, HDMI, and 2 Thunderbolt 3 Type-C.  Now that was a mouthful.

I have a tablet, a phone, and a portable hard drive so having multiple ports is a life saver. I don't need to keep plugging and unplugging stuff which is not good for the gadget and I can charge and use multiple things in one go. Time saver too!

Design 

This is the World’s thinnest 14” laptop. The cover has a spun metal finish, a 3D IR Camera, 4 sided frameless Nano-Edge design. I also love that this one came with a Number Pad design. 

 

Since I do the budgeting at home, the number pad will be such a big help when I do our daily expenses for the day. It may seem like such a small thing but trust me when I say that it makes a difference. 

The ergo lift design is also very helpful because it gives the laptop a space to breathe. As you can also see, the ASUS Zenbook 14 is very thin which means that it is also very light. At 1.13kg, it is one of the lightest laptop that I have ever held in my life. 

Battery Life

This laptop is amazing when it comes to battery life. The ASUS Zenbook 14 UX425 can hold it's own at almost 22 hours of regular use and 18 hours when I used it for video editing, social media, blogging, and Netflix the whole day. Best part, it charges up to 60% in less than an hour. MINDBLOWN.

I definitely love the ASUS Zenbook 14 UX425 in Lilac Mist. It is such a delight to have and it makes life so much easier, way easier for a Mom like me who needs portability, flexibility, durability, and something aesthetic to go with my lifestyle.

Review of the 2021 Belle de Jour or BDJ Planners

If you have been reading my blog for some time now, you will know that I am a huge fan of planners. Every year, I would share my latest planner and show which ones I got and why. This year is no different. 

However, I decided to be a bit more extra and do an actual review of the different planners that I will be able to accumulate this 2020. Some people think that it's a waste of time but I say otherwise.

I was lucky enough to secure almost all the designs that they launched for the 2021 collection and I must say that I am pretty impressed with this set. 

There is something for everyone who still uses a planner. 

The FOCUS 2021 BDJ planner is perfect for the minimalists. Inside the pages you will see weekly pages with boxes for each day and nothing more. It's clean and simple, just like how most minimalists prefer things to be.

The Meeting Notes is a bonus add on for those who attend a lot of meetings. It has all the pertinent details necessary to ensure that you cover a meeting and not miss a single detail. I believe that this is a supplement to the planners.

My favorite from this collection though would be this. The style reminds me of the Happy Planners and it is simply gorgeous. 

The overall look, feel, and finish is very sleek and classy. It's the kind of journal that you can use as an accessory to finish a look. The inside of this one fits the boss babe or creative gal.

As I mentioned, there is definitely something for everyone who uses a journal when it comes to the 2021 BDJ planners. I'm so glad that they have expanded and now accommodates all kinds of planner users.
