things I am loving this summer

1. huge sunglasses .... I am a big girl and I can pull off wearing those big, big glasses that cover half your face.
2. summer dresses ... for some reason, I feel really gorgeous when I am wearing one.

3. sandals ... pretty nails for pretty flat shoes

4. bath gels ... best way to beat the summer heat is to use a super nice smelling bath gel when taking a shower

5. BORACAY! Need I say more?

What are you loving this summer?

munimuni # 35

This week I've been working from home and it has been quite nice. I also bonded with some friends and love ones last Friday and it was really great. Things have been pretty hard on the financial front since the ex has not been giving support to B since January but I know that I will be okay soon.

Things that I am thankful for this week:
- work from home flexibility
- my boss who rocks
- J and my friends
- my family
- my super kulit son
- our good health
- all of us being safe
- Cloud 9 chocolate
- water in the shower (its so hot!)
- checking back in to Saturday Photo Hunt
- participating in Earth Hour

Things may be hard but you know what? I will get over this slump. I will because my family and I are not hurting anyone. We have been really forgiving of my ex and his money hungry family. I have not run after him to give support to his child. I have not said anything eventhough he seems to have found wife # 3. I have been quiet and forgiving coz really, I just want to move on with my life and be free from him in all ways possible.

I know that God is on my side. I am not a saint but I am not evil either. I will be okay soon. My family and I will be okay soon.

SPH # 18: Hands

It has been a long time since my last saturday photo hunt entry and wonders of all wonders, the first time I join again in a long time, the theme is my avatar: Hands.

This photo represents lasting commitment. It stands that when people are committed to making things work, it will work; that as long as no one lets go, things can and will last.

bati na tayo (let's make up)

Women are suckers in general to put it bluntly. Even when we are upset and hurt by the person we love, the moment they make googly eyes and say sorry, our hurt instantly fades into the background (granted of course that this is just one of those minor spats in life.)

I think its a good thing though. If we were as prideful as most men are, then no relationship would last long for it will be a battle of the prides. Yep, I think it is a good thing that we can let go of things easily and love once again.

One answer: Love.

I've put up with a lot of wrong things from the people that I love. I've put up with being taken for granted, not appreciated, overlooked, and turned away when they're not "in the mood" to be with me or to talk to me. I've been made into a punching bag, cheated on, mistreated, abused, humiliated, and made fun of in front of other people.
I put up with these hurtful things for one reason and one reason alone. Love.
I know that I am not alone in this situation. People in love or people who love can stretch their comfort zone to limits that amaze even them. We can make a lot of excuses for the people we love to justify the way they treated us even when what they did is simply inexcusable.
Someone I care for deeply whom I haven't seen for some time just told me that he wasn't in the mood to talk to me and this was why he was pissy. It hurt. A lot. This, coupled with other hurtful things done in the past makes me think, "why am I putting up with this shit again?"
I don't deserve to be treated like that. I don't. Yes, I may be demanding and clingy but I was upfront about those things right from the start. It just hurts so much. So I'm thinking, "why am I putting up with this shit again?"
One answer. Love. I just hope its enough to get me by.

an afternoon of goofing around

Here are some shots of my Mom, lil sis, and B goofing around in the house. These are the moments that matter most. This is what makes everything worth it.

Kianna's 9th Bday Bash

the giveaways (wands and loot bags)

the bday cake
the celebrator with her mini feast
the pabitin (a game for the kids)
It was a simple yet fun celebration. My lil sister had fun and she had a lot of guests who came. She had fun, we were tired but it was worth it.
Happy 9th bday lil sis!

favorite viands at Dampa

kilawing tanigue
spicy shells

buttered shrimp

Dampa here in the Philippines is a wet market that has restos surrounding it where you can ask the chef to cook the stuff you bought from the wet market at a cheap price. Above are pictures of some of the viands that I love to order whenever my family and friends eat there. It is so good, especially the buttered shrimp. Granted, its not the best viand for your healthy but, oh my god, it is so YUMMY.
Thinking about it makes me want to go there and order a kilo of shrimp. Must stop.

Anyway, I just wanted to share to whoever gets to read this that you really really need to try those viands pictured above. They are good with rice, with beer, with anything.
So there. Lol.

breakfast at Cubao Dampa

Last Saturday, my best friend from Kindergarten (Allan) and Arnold had breakfast at Dampa. It was fun and we were so full. We ordered half kilos of shrimp, shells, kilawing tanigue, and grilled pork. Take note, there were only 3 of us but we actually consumed almost all of it. There was very few left.

It felt good to catch up and just hang out. I love moments like these. I love hanging out with friends.

comfort food: Cloud 9 chocolate

One of the best chocolates in town. Cheap (less than Php10) but really good. Yummy!

It reminds me of childhood when this was such a treat. We would be given this if we were well behaved. In my case, if I didn't show up at the house with a new wound or scratch from running around.

It reminds me of my high school years. This was something my friends and I would share when we would chat. We'd talk of life dreams and how we would reach our goals.

It reminds me now of how simple things can make you happy. It reminds me that yes, I may not be able to afford expensive chocolates now but you know what? Cloud 9 is just the same as Cadbury but way cheaper. It reminds me to be creative and to appreciate what I still have and not long for what I no longer have.

It reminds me that as long as I am alive, I can make life better ... for me, for my family, for my son. And in doing so, I can enjoy many more cloud 9's in the future.

working from home

One of the few things I totally, totally love about this company I work for is the fliexibility of being able to work from home. It may sound horrifying to some people since who wants to work from home right? To me though, this is such a huge blessing because I am a single mom.

When my baby gets sick, I get sick, or an emergency happens, it feels good to know that I can still perform my duties as a Mom and as an employee without compromising anything. Lately there has been some fuss at work but I am just thankful as well that my boss is one of the coolest boss ever. He has quirks but it all works out since I have quirks too.

I know not everyone is as lucky as we are to have this flexibility and so, today, I just wanna say that I am truly thankful for this privilege. =)

meeting the parents

I remember when I was young and I had to meet the parents of my 1st boyfriend. I was a wreck. I didn't know whether to shake their hands or kiss them on the cheek. I didn't know whether to call them Mr and Mrs (last name) or Tito and Tita. I didn't know if they would like me or hate me on sight.

I know that most parents would wonder what their child saw in their partner. I know that they of course would wonder, "what's in her? what did my son see in her? Is she special enough? Does she deserve my child?" "What if she breaks his heart? What if she gets pregnant?"

I know that those things go through a parent's brain. They ask so many things because they of course want the best for their son. I understand that. I do. Which is the reason why everytime I am introduced to the parents, I tend to panic.

I mean, I always want to be introduced to the parents. Of course, what girl wouldn't right? At least you know that the guy you are with is serious about you. But then, a part of you panics because you want the parents to like you too. It's a nerve wracking moment.

It always will be.

disciplining a child

Argh! It has got to be one of the most challenging things that a Mom has to do. Teaching her child to accept a no and to punish when he doesn't is truly one of the most frustrating thing on earth. B cries, acts out, bring on the tears, ang begs all to get his way. It tugs at the heart and makes you want to give in but you can't. You really just can't coz you need to teach him that no means no and that there are things in life that he simply cannot play with. He needs to learn discipline. I wish there was a pill that childrean can swallow and they would learn obedience and how to respect properties.

Grrrrr .... I love B but right now, he is not on top of my favorite people list. =(

a day with Nerina

I have not seen this friend of mine for 4 years. Last time we saw each other was 2004 and its 2009 now. She's here for just a week so I feel really good that we were able to catch up even for a few hours since she has so little in her stay here. She's still the same sweet girl that I met; she has not changed much and I am so happy to see that.

She also got to meet B which was really great. =) It feels good to see old friends.

little miss chef

Above are pictures of my little sister showing off her new skills, frying an egg. Lol. Well, she is just 8 y'know. She wants to be a chef just like her older brother so this is the first step. To many more culinary achievements. =)

And here is B showing off his drinking mug from J. He loved it since it was Mickey Mouse on the design. Hehe.

This is how my morning was spent earlier today. Feels good. =)

what goes around comes around

Today, a ghost from my past called me. This ghost brought back memories of a giddy 17 year old girl who would steal sideway glances at this Adonis of a man. He was handsome with a smile to die for. He had a toned body and his height was just perfect for me to lean on his chest and fit just right (not that I've ever been able to.)

He was THE ONE. He was my biggest crush and just the mere sight of him was enough to send me giggling which I never do. He was the one who had several frames in my 18th bday video coz I asked the videographer to take lots of frames of him. He was THE ONE.

Fast forward to 8 years later ...

Obviously, he was not the one. He was not even close to being the one. He was far off from being the one. He never courted me, he never made a move. I hoped he would but he never did.

So what I felt for him slowly died. I moved on and I found out that he had a kid. Today, he called. After almost 8 years of not talking, I hear from him.

I wonder what will come next?

munimuni # 34

The last weekend was spent with quality. I was able to hang out with my Mom and family to watch Ogie Alcasid (a local popular singer) and Jan Nieto (a rising star.) We had fun though it was just a mall show and we really bonded. Here are some pictures. =)

And here is B eating fries with a lot of ketchup on it ... a lot! Apparently, he is enamored with ketchup and loves licking them off the fries.

We also had breakfast with J at Sinangag Express Sunday morning and went to McDo afterwards to get ice cream for B since he wanted more. The rest of the day was spent chillin' out at the house with family. It was a weekend well spent.

love is ....

B enjoying his Sundae twirl ...

a Girbaud bag given as a gift for no reason at all ...

where the bag was placed ...

These are just some of the things that have made the weekend much better. Loved the bag. Loved the look on B's face even more.

my personality

Your Passion Type
You mix passion with pragmatism

Key Traits: open, sensitive, balanced, empathetic, loyal, thoughtful Introspective and self-aware, you have a solid grip on your emotions. Your friends and family consider you "the rock" they can turn to and lean on during tough times. Part of that trust comes from the fact that you always try your best to say what you mean and mean what you say. This is part of your healthy outlook on life, love and work. Hard work is important, but remember to listen to your instinct when it tells you to take a step back and enjoy the quiet moments. There are certain things that you will always be passionate about, whether it's a certain cuisine, a type of music, or a particular sport. On the flipside, there are also things that will never interest you. But that's OK. Your romantic partner appreciates your unwavering sensibility, your balanced temperament, and consistent signs of love and care.

Your Emotional Type
Friends and family are the most important people in your life. You're good about keeping track of birthdays, people appreciate that you care about them.

Your Intellectual Type
You have a naturally curious mind. If there's something new that you want to learn, you're not afraid to ask questions or investigate on your own.

Your Physical Type
Sunny days are not lost on you. If you get the chance, you hit the beach or the mountains to enjoy the fresh air.

ENTJExtraverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging

ENTJs often excel in business. They are assertive, outspoken, confident, outgoing, energetic, charismatic, fair-minded, and unaffected by conflict or criticism. However, other traits may lessen the impact of their strengths. They may appear argumentative, confrontational, insensitive, intimidating, and controlling. They can overwhelm others with their energy, intelligence, and desire to order the world around them. ENTJs tend to cultivate their personal power, and often end up taking charge of a situation that seems (to their mind, at least) to be out of control. Also, ENTJs seek knowledge, striving to learn new things, which helps them become good problem-solvers. They may be viewed by others as aloof and cold-hearted, since ENTJs appear to take a tough approach to emotional or personal issues. In situations requiring feeling and value judgments, ENTJs are well served to seek the advice of a trusted Feeling type.

for better or for worse

When people say for better or for worse, I will stick with you ... do they imagine the worst things that could possibly happen? Or do they just glaze over it and think that love will help you surpass anything?

Obviously this is not the case in this day and age. If it was, then there would be no divorce or annulment in this world because everyone can forgive and adjust to anything. If this was the case, there would be no unhappy marriages. If this was the case, there wouldn't be infidelity.

I was told so many times before, for better or worse. Those all ended on a sad note. When the worse happened, the love between us did not survive. This is why I have had so many failed relationships.

I hope next time, when I am told for better or worse, it really will be for better or worse.

cruising the 7,107 islands of the Philippines

I just stumbled upon this on Meandersome's blog. I think that if you have budget to spare, every Pinoy and tourist visiting our beautiful country should give this a try. It's a cruise that goes around the tourist spots of the Philippines. You even have choices. It's called the 7,107 Island Cruise; aptly named for our 7,107 islands.

After all, wouldn't you want to see such scenic views? The pictures above are as follows: Apo Reef, Coron, Palawan and Ditaytayan.
