Superbook Season 5 is Landing Soon on Philippine TV

Superbook’s fifth season is finally set to air on Philippine TV in June 2024, 11 years after its debut in the country. It premieres June 3, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM on A2Z and Kapamilya Channel.

Superbook Season 5 follows our favorite trio as they learn how to have a deeper relationship with Jesus and discover what it truly means to be His follower. Each episode explores real-life challenges and victories that people from all generations can relate to. 

With this exciting launch comes new interactive events and materials designed to encourage children and their families to know God deeper and share their faith with the people around them.

Superbook Philippines is preparing to bring “Sabay-Sabay Lilipad,” an on-ground events campaign to malls, schools, churches, and communities nationwide. New fun and educational materials will be available at partner outlets and online platforms as well. 

CBN Asia’s head for Superbook, Icko Gonzalez, also teases an exciting project this year. “As we approach CBN Asia's 30th anniversary, we are thrilled to announce the upcoming Superbook Musical Theatre, bringing these beloved stories to life on stage,” he revealed.

Gonzalez also invites everyone to watch Superbook Season 5 on A2Z and the Kapamilya Channel every weekday, beginning June 3 at 8:30 AM.

Nestlé Homebakers Club Relaunches

In the same month as World Baking Day, Nestlé All Purpose Cream announced the successful relaunch of the Nestlé Homebakers Club, an online community dedicated to empowering homebakers to enhance their skills, explore entrepreneurial opportunities, and connect with like-minded enthusiasts. The inaugural episode of the series "Bake to Basics" was held on May 23 and streamed live on Facebook, attracting an enthusiastic audience of baking aficionados from across the country.

 Hosted by Chef Jackie Ang-Po and featuring guest expert homebaker and business owner Kathy Apole-Sarmiento of KathyBakesPH, the event engaged viewers with a blend of practical baking demonstrations, insightful business advice, and Q&A sessions. Chef Jackie kicked off the event expressing her excitement about the return of the Homebakers Club and encouraging viewers to actively participate and ask questions.

Jollibee Foods Corporation Mounts Employee-led Mangrove Reforestation Project

 The Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) continues to drive change through its corporate social responsibility arm, the Jollibee Group Foundation, Inc. (JGF), as it spearheaded a mangrove reforestation program with a string of tree-planting activities held in three coastal provinces.

Close to 4,000 mangrove trees have been planted by JFC employees: 2,250 mangrove propagules along the coastlines of Alaminos, Pangasinan and Carmen, Cebu; and 1,700 seedlings in Lemery, Batangas. 

JGF President Gisela Tiongson emphasized that the reforestation initiative is part of JFC’s increased efforts to advance its global sustainability agenda called Joy for Tomorrow in line with the objective under the Planet pillar to help treat the planet responsibly.

“JFC’s 45th anniversary last year marked a special milestone that inspired us to step up our effort in creating value for our stakeholders and in giving back to the environment,” said Tiongson. “Through this mangrove reforestation program, we aim to help restore the mangrove ecosystem and build a more resilient future for our fellow Filipinos living in coastal communities.” 

Strengthening collaboration 

JGF has collaborated with national agencies and local community partners to ensure that the mangrove planting activities are done correctly using the right species that are planted in the right site and in the right season—all these considerations are crucial in ensuring mangrove survival and propagation.

Tiongson recognized the support provided by DENR SCIS-Strategic Alliance and Environmental Partnership Division, DENR-Environmental Management Bureau, DENR Region 7, City Environment & Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Cebu City and Carmen, and CENRO Calaca, Batangas. “We are grateful for their assistance and for guiding us throughout the activities, as well as the People’s Organization in Cebu for the mangrove seedlings,” she said.  

Fostering employee engagement

The reforestation program was started in 2023, with over 200 employee-volunteers from Jollibee, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Zenith Foods Corporation, and Jollibee Worldwide Services Logistics. This also formed part of the Company’s engagement program for its employees and JFC’s 45th anniversary activities.

To bolster the project, JFC’s President and CEO Ernesto Tanmantiong and JGF’s Tiongson, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with DENR Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga on April 19. 

Tanmantiong emphasized, “We are cognizant of the climate emergency we are in, and hence, we are taking steps to contribute to climate mitigation in the work of JGF, together with the company. To this end, we will be investing in mangrove reforestation initiatives with the help of our employee volunteers. And we will be supporting communities in mangrove management.”

Under the MOU, JGF has committed to “mobilize volunteer employees to participate in the conduct of environmental programs and activities in mangrove reforestation and extend its support to community-based mangrove protection and reforestation activities.” 

This year, JGF will also be working on establishing the project as a sustained program in a move to further broaden the skill set, experience, and knowledge of JFC employees beyond their work. To further increase the area of mangrove habitat in the country, JGF is also planning to conduct mangrove planting activities in Visayas and Mindanao under strong community management.

Review of Dazzle Me Ink Mattes Lip Cream

As a busy mom, I need makeup that's easy to apply and lasts through the day. Let’s see if these lip creams from Dazzle Me are as awesome as they sound!

First Impressions

Review of Pampanga Food Festival at The Manila Hotel’s Café Ilang-Ilang

It has been a crazy time in my life and whenever I feel that things are out of hand, I turn to food and so when I received the invitation to review the Pampanga Food Festival at The Manila Hotel's Cafe Ilang-Ilang, I immediately said yes. 

I have never had the chance to really try Pampanga cuisine. I've always been curious because a lot of people have said that it's one of the best. 

The Manila Hotel’s Café Ilang-Ilang promises vibrant flavors that will take patrons to the culinary capital of the Philippines in just one bite with its Pampanga Food Festival. From May 16 to 31, 2024, Café Ilang-Ilang will showcase a selection of Kapampangan delicacies. Spearheaded by Executive Chef Konrad Walter, the culinary team will showcase both traditional and exotic dishes from the culinary capital of the Philippines. 

Diners can expect to indulge in an array of well-known Kapampangan dishes encompassing traditional favorites like Kalderetang Bibe, Ningnangang Hito at Dalag (grilled catfish and freshwater eel), Kapampangan Bringhe (Filipino style paella cooked in coconut milk), Tidtad Babi (Kapampangan version of dinuguan) with puto, Suam Mais, Sipo Egg, Saleng Manuk, Lengua, and the classic Sisig.

Other delectable dishes include Pako Salad (fern salad), Pizza with Sisig, Aligue Pasta (seafood pasta in crabfat sauce), sweets like Tibok Tibok (made from fresh carabao’s milk topped with latik), Kalame Duman (sticky rice cake), Sans Rival, Sasmuan Polvoron, Barquillas, Cashew Mazapan, Panecillos Cookies and Turrones de Casuy. 

Overall, I found the Pampanga Food Festival fascinating. My personal favorite was the adobong balut which was really tasty. It didn't have the chick inside so I really liked that aspect of the dish. 

Next was the sisig which was different from the usual sisig that I have had. If it wasn't too spicy for my taste, I would have eaten more. Overall, I'm glad that I gave this a try. It was definitely worth the experience. 

These dishes are part of the rotating selection at Café Ilang-Ilang’s lunch and dinner buffet. Alongside these offerings, diners can still enjoy Café Ilang-Ilang’s popular favorites which include a variety of cuisines such as Japanese, Korean, and Italian, among others.
