Sumucob Twin Falls in Cavinti, Laguna

Nothing worth having comes easy. This is the best description one can use in the quest to reach Sumucob Twin Falls in Cavinti, Laguna. Slipping 3x, getting attacked by a bunch of rabid ants, immersing your well-manicured, once a week foot spa feet in mud that reaches up to your thighs, slipping and sliding, praying that you won’t fall off the side of a cliff or into a stream on the side are just some of the things you have to look forward to when you try to see the beauty of the virgin waterfalls known as Sumucob Twin Falls.

It is a thing of beauty once you see it, the Sumucob Twin Falls. We understand why it was hidden away from the prying eyes of tourists who do not know how to value nature and just want a selfie. This is one place that would need more validation than that. Majestic, magnificent, wild, and truly a thing of beauty, these twin falls would only allow those who have enough grit to survive the trek to lay eyes on it. We went there when it was raining and the challenge was almost hard enough for us to question why we were trekking but once we saw it, we understood why.

The Sumucob Twin Falls is a queen in its own right. It provides shelter for a lot of species and it does not bow down to humans. Humans need to pay respect and give thanks for being allowed to see it. It is a well-kept secret that the locals are not willing to share but it is unforgiving to those who just want to ride the wave of “travel photos.”

Trust me when I say that if you are not a nature lover, this will be one challenge you’d want to step away from. You just might not survive or you will regret it because you’d need to walk on mud with your bare feet, ignore the stings of the hybrid mosquitoes, say hi to an occasionally lost snake, and jump over streams.

If you and your friends are up for an adventure that will hand you memories to last a lifetime, the Sumucob Twin Falls may just be the one for you. The good thing is that it is still not exploited by people and considered a virgin waterfall.

Just please ensure that when you leave, you leave only memories and not trash or pollution. Contact Herald Bebis for more details on how to get there.
