Kessaku Alabang

I found myself walking toward Commerce Center in Filinvest, Alabang today. I was looking for a fairly newly opened Japanese restaurant called Kessaku. Thanfully, it wasn't that hard to find and the glaring sign right in front of it helps more than enough.

First thing I was served was this tiny thing and I was thinking, "really? this is a dish people pay to have?!? These two measly pieces of what have you is being paid for?" Thankfully, I was wrong.

Apparently this is a free appetizer that they serve to whet the appetite and trust me, it works. It really, really works. It leaves you wanting and yearning for more. I don't know how they did it but it did leave me wanting more and getting excited to have my food served before me.

Next thing I got was the sashimi and I can honestly say that aside from the fish that was just caught from the sea and then sliced right in front of me, this is the freshest sashimi that I have tasted in my entire life. I actually finished everything on this plate which I shouldn't have because I have other plates to try.

I also had the Tiger Roll which was equally good. It had avocado in the middle which gave it an added flavor which I totally love. Avocado for me is love. Love love love.

They also served me their Tempura which to be honest is the biggest tempura that I have ever had. I loved that it was not misleading in any way at all. It wasn't all breading and it didn't cheat the customers into thinking that it was big and then when you bite into it, its all air.

Their Tempura is really a big shrimp with breading. When I bit into it, it was heaven. It was so "siksik." I loved it. It's like the most worth it Tempura that I have ever had. Seriously.

The other thing that caught my attention was the Symphony. Now, if you have never seen a salmon sashimi "cake," this is it. It has 4 layers and each layer consists of Japanese rice that has been fried. Then it was a layer of salmon then a layer of sashimi. Finally, on top, it had layers of crab meat and then some fish eggs.

I also loved their Red Grape Shake. It was refreshing and energizing. It was sweet but it felt healthy as well.

Thank you Ms. Yums for accomodating me and letting me have a try of your delicious dishes. BURP!'

* I was invited to review the food. I did not pay for my meal. However, the free meal did not in any way sway my opinion and everything you read here is MY PERSONAL OPINION.
