It’s the time of the year when everyone feels a renewed sense of self and they all set out goals for themselves. For a lot of people, this would normally include losing weight and becoming more fit. For a lot of people, this would fail as well because we all know how truly hard it is to lose weight and stop yourself from gorging on so many of the delicious food you can find around you. Thankfully, we have our resident doctor who advocates health and wellness, Dr. Paolo Bellosillo.
Doc Pao, as he is fondly called, recommends detoxifying. He believes that this is the best way to lose weight other than the virtue of temperance applied to one’s lifestyle specifically on diets and the likes of it. Of course Doc Pao is aware of what has been said and he agrees that anything in excess can be bad. As he says, it really is dependent on the kind of detoxifying you are doing and which organ is involved.
If you are detoxifying the gut, too much bowel movement can throw your electrolytes off balance. This could lead to dehydration or your blood pressure rising or lowering depending on the kind of electrolytes that has been lost. The key thing to remember during detoxification is to replenish the nutrients being lost. We want to get rid of the toxins but we need to put back the nutrients.
Detoxifying is a popular choice because it relieves our body and cells of redundant presence of toxins. We get these from the air we breathe, food we consume, even the water supply we have. The toxins we ingest are created within as intermediate or endproducts of physiological processes affected by the change in equilibrium as a function of genetic pre disposition or our lifestyle, cholesterol, adrenaline, cortisol, Uric acid, creatinine and many more.
When we detoxify, we are then able to avoid or precent the beginning of a disease of its evolution. For instance, heart attacks emanate from blood pressure rises which arise from blood vessel stiffness and or clogging as well as blood viscosity, dysfunction occurs, therefore action is called for to remedy the state of the endothelium. Detoxifying is to the internal organs as having a facial is to prevent blemishes from appearing. Whereas a dermatologist takes care of the outer appearance, detoxifying w an integrative medicine and anti aging specialist, will ensure that your youthful appearance will begin from within. If you have a clean system, everything else follows.
Detoxifying calls for current conditions, lifestyle rebranding and balancing. Kids who are growing still as well as teenagers may not be the best recipients for this. The question that needs to be answered here is, “what is your main reason for detoxifying? Are you doing it because it is a fad or because you need it?”
Detox is actually cleaning the layers of your body without compromising your well being. It involves the use of so specialized holistic fields using current conventional technology for marker reference or monitoring while using safe modalities whether technology, supplemental or apt lifestyle processes integration. Weight loss is just one of the manifestations.
So if you are doing detox to lose weight as the sole reason, I would suggest that you eat what you need and what you can finish. This means eat smart and not eat everything in sight or because you are bored and have nothing else to do. Next is to workout within attainable or achievable goals. Train for a reason. Maintain zones that are reasonable. Lastly, employ the use of technologies that allow you to move and break fat or perspire without creating injury to the heart and see an integrative and whole medical systems anti aging specialist. This would be Dr. Paolo Bellosillo. Have a healthy new year and book an appointment with Doc Pao to ensure you are in tiptop shape this 2016.

PSST.PH
One of the things that we have come to rely on for our
source of news and information are websites, blogs, and news blogs. We google
things and when we see that the source is of a news blog we trust, we click on
it and believe that the information we are reading is legitimate. When we fall
victims to satire news blogs, we feel betrayed. After all, we were led to
believe that this was the real deal only to find out it is not. Filipinos in particular are fond of news and
this is evident in how we all grew up watching our parents drink coffee while
reading the newspaper. Nowadays, we drink our coffee and read the news on our
mobile phones, tablet, or laptop. We grew up reading the news. It is in our
DNA.
PSST.PH is an up and coming online magazine which features news,
current affairs, celebrity interviews, lifestyle and tech features as well as
events. They feature everything from what’s happening in the Philippines to news
that would be relevant to Overseas Filipino Workers, product launches, and
events going in and around the metro. PSST.PH aims to be one of the key sources
of information for Filipinos all over the world. They recognize that one of the
things that Filipinos abroad constantly strive for are news portal. After all,
it helps to lessen homesickness and it also makes you feel like you’re still at
home when you know what’s happening in your own country.
PSST.PH may be young but it has a board that has grand plans
for it. PSST.PH main goal is to ensure that there will be absolutely no bias
when it comes to doing its news reports and that the site will always be
impartial. It wants to deliver hard hitting news as it happens and to be on top
of any and all updates. It will also feature product launches and new places to
visit or revisit so that our fellow Pinoy will know the best places they can go
to by themselves, with their partner, or family when they come over to visit.
Life is hard enough as it is so PSST.PH aims to make it just a little bit
easier by giving out tips and life hacks via posts on the site. PSST.PH will be
a combination of a web magazine and news site all rolled into one and for the
Filipinos living here and abroad, what more can you ask for?

Sundate at home with B
B and I were supposed to go out and have a date but we were both hit with laziness and so we opted to have our date in the garage. We ordered food from McDonalds and we played a couple of board games. We even recorded ourselves singing and posted it on social media.
One of the things that I kind of neglected in 2015 was spending more time with B and so I vowed to ensure that this 2016, it will not be the case. We talked and he told me about his classmates. He told me about the subject he hated the most and he told me that he's the only Cebuano in his class. I never even knew that about him.
This date was lighter. I think I'm learning to deal with him in a better way. He giggled a lot. HE laughed a lot and the shine in his eyes was just really a sight to see. I know that today, my son really enjoyed spending time with me. I plan to make more of these kind of dates with my son. He is growing up fast and I don't want to miss out while he is still a little boy,
To other parents, dates with your child need not be expensive. You can just make a simple merienda from home and then talk with your child about anything and everything under the sun. You can also play board games and just have fun. What will matter to your child is that you spent time with them.

Starbucks + The Burgery + Oasis
My plan was to stay at home, go to my Yawyan Alasan class, go back home, and binge watch some series that I have on my hard drive. I had a few guys asked me out but I was too lazy so I told them I wasn't up for it and honestly, I really didn't want to go out.
However, my brother dropped by with his girlfriend and said the magic words. "MY TREAT!" In a manner of 15 minutes, we were all dressed up and ready to go. This was after all a rare treat that we get to go out complete since we all have crazy schedules. I purposely did not bring B since we will have our own date time and so it was just my family and I, minus B. He didn't mind at all since he had his Scooby Doo marathon to watch.
First stop: Starbucks in Aguirre. We had to wait for the restaurants to open before we could dine so we waited things out at our favorite coffee shop.
Second stop: The Burgery. We've heard about this place and finally, we got to try it. We ordered the wedges and burger and sadly, I did not read what I ordered so I ended up with the biggest burger amongst us. TRIPLE PATTIES!
BUT .... it was sooooo good. Seriously. I'm not a fan of burger but I really, really liked this one. I could actually have finished it on my own. Eeeppp. Don't tell anyone that haha since I'm supposed to be on a diet.
I also loved the potato wedges and the mozarella sticks. Tasty, fattening, and just right. LOL.
I love that when we have our family dinners, everyone talks. Literally, everyone talks. We may check on our phone but its never gotten to the point where no one talks and everyone is just on their phone. NEVER.

Last stop: Oasis at Solaire Resort and Casino
Talk about gluttony. Our Mom wanted something sweet and we thought of walking over to Larcy's Cupcake but my other brother thought of Solaire and off we went. It was so random and so much fun. We ordered 8 kinds of cake and had so much fun trying out all 8. Yes, this is why we are fluffy. We enjoy eating out and we enjoy each other's company. Thankfully, we are cute. Haha.
I'm so happy that we already had a family date out. Later, it will be B and I. Thank you Lord for the blessing of family. I could not ask for more.

the men of the online world
Being a single Mom in this day and age is hard especially when it comes to dating. A lot of times, I don't really have the chance to go out and meet potential dates because when I am out, I am either busy taking photos for an article or I am hosting. As much as people think that my work will let me meet a lot of potential partners since I am always at an event or two, it is not true. When you are too busy posting things real time, you just do not have time to mingle or be charming enough to get some guy interested.
This has led me to try online dating apps as suggested by a lot of friends. After being on it for a couple of months, I have to say that men online can be categorized into the following:
1. Mr. Nice Guy BUT ...
He's very respectful and nice. He makes you feel good and makes you feel special. He talks to you daily until you feel that you have a real connection. You may or may not meet but once you do, that's when things go downhill because as much as he seemed Mr. Nice Guy, he is also more often than not, Mr. I Cannot Commit.
Warning: Do not fall in love with this one. You will be like Miss Colombia. What you thought was yours was apparently meant for someone else. You will just have your heart broken and served on a silver platter.
2. Mr. Desperate
He's the one who professes his like or (the horror) love for you within 10 chat lines. Yes, I've encountered this so many times. It is actually quite creepy. A guy who you just met online tells you he loves you and wants to marry you within 10 exchanges. Insanity.
If you encounter him, RUN.
3. The Maniac
Men think about sex 80% of the time. It's a given. However, being able to solicit behind a screen has made the maniacs more aggressive. Some would actually open a conversation with, "Lets have sex." or the more infamous "wanna f--k?"
Disgusting little losers. I hope that their mothers would catch them doing what they are doing so that they can get the beating of their life. Its men like them who make the whole online dating creepy and scary.
4. The Forever Online
This guy is like Mr. Nice Guy but he remains online, forever. He never asks to meet but he's always there to talk when you need him. He never volunteers to give his information but will give his name and general details. It could be because he's married and just needs the mental stimulation of an online conversation, or he's an introvert who might freeze to death when a face to face meeting is done, or he could just be really wanting an online friendship or online relationship.
NEVER FORGET: This is all online.
5. The Collector
These are men who just collect "matches." You match and that's it. You may message and they never reply. Congratulations, you just fed the ego of an insecure guy.
6. The Chick Collector
This one is the worst version of the collector. This guy actually goes out and meet these girls, make them his conquest, and collects girls the way other people collect ref magnets. Talk about needing validation.
7. Mr. Geographically Challenged
He's perfect. He is everything you want in a guy and you two hit it off. Heck, you get along so well you start wondering where he's been all your life. Guess what? He's been where he's been all his life, halfway around the world.
Heartbreak.
I think that about summarizes the different kinds of men you meet online. It's a hit or a miss and sadly, its a miss most of the time. After all, this is why stories of successful matches make it to the news. It rarely happens that it's worthy of being mentioned on the news.
As for me, I have uninstalled every single one of these online dating apps because I'm ready to just be on my own. If I meet anyone this 2016, he will need to make his presence known in my life and with how busy I plan to be, he better be prepared to wait and bide his time.
After all, I AM SO WORTH IT.

2016 Goals
So last year (I can't believe 2015 is already considered as last year) I set out to read 12 books and watch 50 movies. I figured that since I haven't read a book in 2 years, it was time I made up for it. It was initially a struggle until 2 months ago when I finally learned to love reading via eBook.
I initially thought that I wouldn't be able to read the 12 books I aimed for but I actually managed to read 12 books. YEY!
I also set out 50 movies and I have reached way beyond that. I didn't even add the ones that I watched during the Christmas break coz I watched TONS and TONS of movies.
So since I was successful with 2015 goals, lets aim for more this 2016.
1. 20 books
2. 100 movies
3. Drop to 150lbs by end of the year
4. Frame 12 coloring artworks
5. Save 50k in the bank
6. monthly dates with Brent
There. I think that's feasible enough. Happy New Year! Happy 2016. Lets make this year our year! I claim it!

the year that was 2015
2015 was a pretty good year for me if I may say so. I learned a lot of things, realized who my friends were especially in the blogging world, and found out things about myself that I never knew was real or true. It wasn't as successful as I had hoped for it to be but it was better than what I had in mind.
On family
I'd like to think that this year, I grew closer to my siblings and the funny thing is, we talk more via Messenger than in person and this is because we each have our own lives with our own crazy schedules. I'm happy that we stay connected via online chat and that instead of it disconnecting us, we worked around it to stay on top of things.
My Mom is also better. She's finally getting out of her funk and starting to be interested in doing business once more. YAY! She really needs to stop moping about my Dad and just move on with life. She deserves better and she needs to make space for that something better.
My son is also growing up. He is having his own personality and sometimes it can be pretty painful for the two of us but I am hoping that we are forging a strong bond together where there will be moments of hate but I hope that there will be more moments of love, understanding, patience, and forgiveness especially on my part.
On friends
This year started with me losing a dear friend and it hurt. Throughout the year, I lost other friends, some of them mattered and some didn't but each betrayal tore at me. I never did understand why people backstab each other. There is just no point to it. If you don't want to be friends anymore, just stop.
Thankfully, this year also saw me gaining not just friends but a second family and this came in the form of a camp that my sister and I just chanced upon on. I learned this year that friendships come and go but the ones who are meant to last in your life, they will stay.
On work
This year, I put blogging behind for 6 months to work in a web development company called You_Source. It may not have been the best idea but for a time, I liked the security of it. Now, I'm going to focus on blogging and working on building my social media presence. I did learn a lot from the company I was with and I don't regret what I did. It helped me see which PR companies I should put more value on and which ones I should just treat on a need to know basis.
On love
I started the year in love with someone, fell in love with someone else midyear, and ended the year with no one to call mine and I couldn't be any happier. I finally let go of the toxic men in my life and the men who do not deserve me.
On fitness
I finally started working out but I have to be honest. I didn't take it seriously but December came in and I realized that after having missed Yawyan Alasan for 2 months, I missed it. I missed the pain, I missed the grills but most of all, I miss sweating and flushing out all the toxins. I missed being able to do things I never dreamed of and being able to jump, kick, punch, and be stronger than I ever thought possible. I am just so grateful that Coach has been so supportive and Yawyan is not just a fitness center or a form of martial art but a family.
2015 was good overall but 2016, I OWN YOU.

love in 2015 and love in 2016
I started 2015 still in love with the funny man. I know, it was pathetic seeing as we broke up early 2013 but the heart wanted what it wanted and till the beginning of 2015, it wanted the funny man. Also, he kept seeing me and so I thought maybe there would be an us again even though he was dating some young girl back then already. I was in way over my head and I refused to recognize the fact that I was making a fool of myself and I was letting him cheat on someone with me.
It was wrong.
March I met YM. He was funny, he was tall, and he was smart. He also made time for me and would even drive me around to events just to spend a little time with me. I realized then that should I let it happen, I could fall for this guy. In hindsight, I think I allowed myself to love YM just so I can check myself and see if I could be with someone else aside from the funny man. After all, I have been in love with the same guy for roughly 4 years and he had stopped loving me after the one year mark. It was time.
However, as with any rash decisions, this YM didn't work out and it didn't even take me one month to get over him. I realized that I was more in love with the idea of falling in love again rather than with the man himself.
In 2015, I started with the wrong love and ended it with the wrong kind of love as well. In 2016, I will settle for nothing less than the right kind of love. If I don't find it, then I don't. I would rather be alone than be with someone for the wrong reasons. I deserve to be loved and accepted for who I am, I deserve to be wooed and courted and made to feel wanted and desired. If there is no man who would do that for me, then I just have to accept that perhaps, God has other plans for me and those plans do not involve a love life.
So 2016, you either send me the man of my dreams and God's perfect plan for me or we keep my heart intact, beating strongly, and on its own. Okay? Okay.
PS. Heart, please do not fall in love with the wrong man again. Please?

Growrich Virgin Coconut Oil
As I got older, my Mom would often tell me to take supplements to help slow down the aging process. She would tell me to take this and that so that I would be stronger, able to do things that I want to do, and still look younger than my age.
I never really listened to her until I hit 35 and started feeling my age. When I would wake up tired after an 11 hour sleep or with little energy when I lack sleep, I realized that I wasn't as young as I used to be. When I saw white hair (TWO!) I realized that I wasn't that ready to look my age either.
When I learned about Growrich Virgin Coconut Oil, I was intrigued, and I said to myself, I'd give it a try. After all, this is what they have to offer.
Salutare Inc. is the exclusive distributor of Growrich Virgin Coconut Oil, both locally and internationally. It is pure virgin coconut oil in a hard gel capsule. It is the healthiest oil on earth. It is extracted from fresh coconut meat by natural means and is chemically free without subjecting the oil to heat. It is the First and Patented Virgin Coconut Oil in hard gels approved by our Food and Drugs Administration (FDA).
Virgin Coconut Oil as a food supplement, is highly recommended by physicians for its numerous health benefits, including the following:
- helps build and maintain our immune system
- has natural antioxidant properties
- boosts energy and vitality
- improves our ability to absorb important minerals
- promotes weight loss
- helps in bacterial/fungal/viral infection
- reduces the risk of heart attacks, strokes and cancer
- lowers cholesterol
- helps improve poor skin texture and reduces falling hair
- prevents constipation
- promotes lauric acid in breast-feeding mothers
- helps in the proper distribution of nutrients throughout the body
- Indeed, since Salutare, Inc. launched the product in 2005, - consumer response and demand has been phenomenal, and the - Growrich brand has a loyal and growing customer base.
I'm glad that I found this and have started taking it. My mind has been sharper, my strength a lot better, and it helps with digestion which in turn helps me with my quest to lose weight. The fact that it costs Php8 per capsule is also a big thing because at least its affordable. It can also be brought easily at Watsons, Manson Drug, South Star Drug, and Mercury Drug.

Christmas 2015
It was a simple celebration but I really love how we spend our Christmas eve. The twins and our Mom are always the one who cooks while K and I are errand girls, well K more than me.
We had dinner and then later on, the twins and B played Scrabble while my Mom, K and I sang our hearts out and posted a lot of stuff on our Snapchat (@mskathykenny). It was a lot of fun though it was nothing grandiose.
So from my family to yours, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a kulayful New Year. We have been blessed and we hope that everyone has been as well.

Titus Pens
Everyone who knows me knows that I have been forever obsessed with pens and coloring pencils. I use it to write on my journal, color books, letter on my scrapbooks, and just about everywhere. I have over 1000 pens to date and last week, Titus Pens added more color to my collection which I totally love!
They recently held a Doodling contest and it was the first time that I saw these many talented artists in one area.
It was a fun day for doodlers all over the country because there were invited guests who taught how to doodle for fashion, food, and comic books.
They also held a contest for an on the spot doodling contest and they were given a theme. Some of the doodles that were created simply blew my mind. However, there were of course some who just really did amazing and they took home the prize.

Starbucks opens 2016 with Awesome Treats
One of the things that I have learned to look forward to after Starbucks releases their planner is what new merchandise they have for Valentines and Chinese New Year or CNY for short. This time around, I did not have to wait for long because I finally know what to expect.
I already have the CNY card and I super love it. I guess the fact that I was born in the Year of the Monkey makes me bias but it's really cute. The Valentine card looks quite dainty to me too.
The Starbucks Espresso Confections are also something to definitely look forward to. Chestnut White Chocolate Truffle and Strawberry Red Velvet Mocha sounds heavenly and knowing Starbucks, these will be definite hits. This will be available on January 8, 2016.
From Starbucks: Usher in the new year as we showcase our commitment to coffee artistry by taking espresso to a whole new level with the latest additions to the Starbucks® Espresso Confections line: the Strawberry Red Velvet Mocha and Chestnut White Chocolate Truffle. These decadent beverages are inspired by the elegance of candy confections with flavors that can only be found in the finest boxes of chocolates, but only perfected as beverages by Starbucks® baristas – our true espresso artists.
Celebrate the special festivities of the Lunar New Year as you spend time with family and friends in ringing in the year ahead. Starbucks is featuring a collection of masterfully roasted packaged coffees that celebrates Starbucks® passion for coffee and pairs well with sweet Lunar New Year treats such as the Guatemala Casi Cielo. A Latin American coffee with elegant flavor complexity, a unique floral aroma, lemon-like acidity and dark cocoa finish. These coffee beans are expertly roasted to showcase subtle floral aromas, citrusy brightness and lingering chocolate taste. It is a remarkable coffee with a depth and versatility, perfect for a variety of special occasions at home.
I'm excited to try out the Casi Cielo because it has that Cocoa finish that I love in my coffee. I'll do a short review of it on my Instagram account soon. For the Reserve branches, this is what people need to look forward to.
With new beverages comes new food items and I simply look forward to the Calamansi Cheesecake and the Salted Belgian Chocolate Cookie the most. They simply look deliciously sinful.
For the Reserve branches I wanna try the blueberry muffin and scones.
Most of all, I look forward to the Starbucks Coffee Wafer Rolls. I love the can.
Oh and the tumbler. Teehee, the tumbler. It makes me giddy. The monkey is adorable.
Thank you Starbucks for always making sure that we have something to look forward to when welcoming the New Year and this time around, we can't wait to swing by soon as 2016 opens.

Marriott Thanksgiving Party
One of the things that endears a brand to me is when they show appreciation for all the hard work and support that this blog has given them. I'm not asking for anything over the top; a simple thank you note would suffice but since Marriott is Marriott, they gave us thank you notes in the form of ginger bread houses and invited us to dine at M Cafe where we stuffed ourselves silly. There was also a raffle for staycations at Marriott Hotel which is what a real staycation is about. I've done a staycation here twice and I still look forward every time I have one.
I love how Marriott is all about quiet splendor. It is elegant and classy. It is all about great service and customer service that makes you feel like family, not just a customer.
Marriott is not just a partner brand. They have become a family and I seriously look forward to supporting them in everything they do for 2016. Cheers.
