Dove Summer Ready

I'm one of the few lucky ones who have white and smooth underams. I have always taken it for granted until I actually saw the underarms of some of my friend and Dove made me aware that apparently, more than half of the women in the Philippines would willingly cancel on a social event because it could require them wearing a sleeveless top or a bikini.

Thankfully Dove has taken a stand on this and came out with a product that will fix those chicken skin and dark underarms that many women are afflicted with. I personally have friends who are really white and have smooth skin but also have the darkest underarms or those who have white ones but has chicken skin. It really is a turn off.

There’s no better way to enjoy life’s pleasures than with confidence and a smile, and Dove provides women with safe, easy-to-use, and easily accessible tools to give them that assurance. Real beauty stems from real care, and Dove’s mild formulas are designed to give women the kind of skin care that they deserve.

And to fully enjoy the upcoming summer season, Dove is giving all girls a chance to win white sleeveless tops weekly, or a trip for three (3) to El Nido, Palawan!

Getting summer-ready is easy with Dove’s Summer-Ready Box, available in major supermarkets and retail stores nationwide for the price of your regular Dove roll on (P89) or aerosol (P175). The Summer-Ready Box contains your favorite Dove aerosol or roll on in Original or Ultimate White, along with a FREE summer bag!

Get a chance to win sleeveless tops for the summer weekly, and even a trip for three (3) to El Nido, Palawan, by joining the Dove Deo Summer Ready Contest! It’s easy: just purchase a Dove Summer-Ready Box and text DOVE DEO <space> PROMO CODE to 2600. We’ll be announcing weekly winners through the Dove Philippines Facebook page (facebook.com/doveph).

Getting Summer-Ready has never been so easy with Dove Deodorant!

Love Hunts Tomato Sauce

Tomato sauce is one of those foods that I have always heard was good for your heart. It's also something that I love adding on to the few meals that I actually know how to cook. It's just one of those things you can easily add on and make everything taste better.

When I was new in learning how to cook, I'd buy meat or chicken then add carrots and potatoes plus tomato sauce and voila, I have something really good already. This is why when I go buy my groceries, Hunts Tomato Sauce is part of my budget. It's something healthy and really tasty that even my son appreciates.

Thankfully, Hunts is in agreement with me in sharing healthy and tasty dishes so here are two easy recipes that they wanted to share with you my dear readers.

This love month, show your family and friends how much you care with dishes that are both yummy and healthy. Go hearty and happy with these easy-to-prepare recipes from Hunt’s Kitchen Superstar.

For starters, you can give the no-frills Tuna Loaf Wraps a try. Infused with Hunt’s Spaghetti Sauce Parmesan Cheese, the combination of garlic and cheese, and nutrient-packed tuna, this simple yet satisfying meal makes for a hearty appetizer or snack.

Ingredients:
1    loaf    white loaf bread (big)
180    g    tuna flakes in oil
30    g    onion (chopped)
30    g    garlic (chopped)
1    pack    Hunt’s Spaghetti Sauce Parmesan Cheese 250g
100    g    lettuce
¼    kg    cheese (grated)

Procedure:
1.  To make the wrap, trim the edges of the loaf and flatten using rolling pin/bottles, then set aside.
2.  To make the filling, sauté onion and garlic using the oil from the tuna. Add tuna and Hunt’s Spaghetti Sauce Parmesan Cheese. Simmer the sauce and reduce until thick.

3.   Place the flattened loaf bread on a plate then top with lettuce. Spread a spoonful of sauce onto the lettuce and sprinkle with cheese.
4.   Roll the bread and pinch the edge to lock it. You may serve it whole or cut in halves.
Makes 6-8 servings.

So prepare to usher in healthy and delicious meals this February with Hunt’s Tomato and Spaghetti sauces. Whip up these super simple recipes and add a twist to your usual menu. For more superstar recipes, visit www.yummyhunts.com and facebook.com/YummyHuntsPH.

Lopez Museum in partnership with Samsung opens Propaganda Exhibit

I've always been a fan of art. You see, even though I know how to write an essay or two, I was never one to draw, paint, or come up with awesome concepts that other artists just seem to be born with. This is why I have always been secretly envious of these artists and why I always make it a point to visit museums when I could.

You see, I've always wanted to be a painter or simply someone who could draw. Thankfully, Lopez Museum sent this out and of course, I grabbed the chance to visit and have a look around.

From Lopez Museum:

"The Lopez Museum and Library, in a technology partnership with Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp (SEPCO), opens its first exhibition for 2015, entitled Propaganda, on February 6, 2015. The exhibition fleshes out the idea of myth-making and its capacity to inspire change or derail genuine national progress. Featuring Samsung Smart TVs installed with a museum app called “Facets”, the exhibition combines traditional media with digital content resulting in a unique and immersive museum experience. It is an exhibition that challenges not just our notions of art and history, but also how we view museums and libraries.

Ricky Francisco, co-curator of Propaganda, said the exhibition was conceived to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II with Don M. Salubayba, 2009 CCP Thirteen Artists Awardee and one of the most promising artists of his generation. Salubayba unexpectedly passed away during the planning process and the exhibition evolved to also be a tribute to him. The exhibition includes a few of his important works such as Pagsasabuhay, Abysmal Abound: Trinity of Passiveness, and his “anino-mation” (shadow puppetry animation) A Not so Giant Story (Legend of the Philippines) that have been sourced and borrowed with the help of Tin-aw Art Management.

Also featured are World War II posters, election-related archival materials, LVN movies still photographs, a collection of rare maps, Philippine imprints; a recreation of Santiago Bose's 1983 installation Pasyon at Rebolusyon that has been reinstalled by Kawayan de Guia; commissioned works from social realist and Negros Occidental-based artist Nunelucio Alvarado; 2012 Thirteen Artists awardee Joey Cobcobo; and writer and Gawad Urian awardee film-maker Alvin Yapan. Enriching the exhibit and re-framing the exhibition issues are works by 18th century masters Juan Luna and Félix Resurrección Hidalgo, along with those of national artists Fernando Amorsolo, Jose Joya, Cesar Legaspi, Vicente Manansala, and J. Elizalde Navarro from the permanent collection.

This is me making a mark on Joey Cobcobo's canvass.

Co-curator Ethel Villafranca says that this exhibition invites visitors to "reflect on where we, as a country, have been and where we are going". Ultimately, Propaganda aims to engage the public, challenge them to see the connections in history and culture within the objects in the exhibition, and be more discerning when presented with information, whether political or otherwise.

Through Samsung Smart TVs and mobile devices, visitors will see ultra-violet scans of Juan Luna’s Espana y Filipinas, revealing details behind the painting; flip through digital copies of the library’s oldest books in its collections that date back to the 15th century; watch a video of the conservation process of these old books; and view several of Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo’s studies of Per Pacem Et Libertatem on a tablet device.

Propaganda will run from February 6 to May 30, 2015 and is presented with support from Samsung Philippines, Gourment Frams, Inc., Tin-aw Artists Management, the heirs of Doña Narcissa de Leon (LVN collection), and ABS - CBN Film and Media Archives. For more information, call Tina at 6312417 or email lmmpasig@gmail.com. Lopez Museum and Library is at the G/F Benpres Bldg., Meralco cor. Exchange Rd., Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Museum and library hours are 8-5pm Mondays through Saturdays except Sundays and holidays."

Johnsons So Much More

I grew up a Johnson's and Johnson's baby. When I had my son, almost everything I bought for his bathing needs were also from Johnson's and Johnson. I had 100% faith in the product and in my head, it was the only product I could trust to use on my baby's sensitive skin.

When I received the invitation to attend their So Much More event, it got me thinking, "what else can they do when they have already done so much?" Well, it seems that breakthroughs have been made and they wanted to share new ways that Moms can take care of their babies and more importantly, grow the bond between Mommies and babies.

JOHNSON’S® understands that for Filipino parents, their baby’s health and development is of primary importance. This is why we’ve developed sensorial rituals that parents can consistently enjoy doing with their babies. When used with our specially-formulated JOHNSON’S® products, these rituals can unlock the full power of the senses and help baby develop healthily and happily.

We encourage moms and dads to make bath time and the other baby care rituals mean so much more to maximize their happy and healthy development. Make sure to spend more quality time with your babies in these different rituals  – massage them more, talk to them more, play with them more – to help nurture their ability to learn, think, love, and grow.

Some of the products that I always buy are the ones shown above. It helps keep my own son smelling nice when he's playing and falling asleep faster at night when its bed time.  When using these products, it also helps allow babies and kids to use their sense of smell, hearing, touch, and seeing; all of which are needed to grow the bond between Moms and their babies.

Additional info are also included in this info sheet below.

So Moms, remember to always make bath time and play time special for your kids using Johnson's and Johnson products. After all, its the only product we should trust our baby's skin with.

I love candies. Candies are the one thing that you can almost always find inside my bag. I love sweets and candies are the fastest way to get sweets without hopefully adding inches to my thighs. Jack and Jill Champalok

I've never been a big fan of sampalok because its very sour but when Jack and Jill came up with Champalok, I became a convert. How can one say no to sampalok in chewy form? It still has the "kilig" factor when you bite into it but with the sugar coating, it becomes more of a tingly excitement than outright sourness.

I love it!

"Make snacking even more fun with Jack ‘n Jill Candies new tamarind-flavored gummy candy, Champalok.

This candy is packed with the same sampaloc flavor you know and love, but without the seed. Packed in a 20gm snack pack, this affordable P5 (SRP) treat can be enjoyed any time of the day, making it the perfectly on-the-go snack.

Take the fun to a whole new level with a pack of Champalok. This gummy and chewy treat is available at all leading supermarkets, groceries and convenience stores nationwide."

Into the Woods the Musical

UpStart Production is producing one of the most awaited musicals for 2015, Into the Woods. A play that shows the good and bad side of having your wish come true, Into the Woods tugs at the heart and makes you believe in dreams and fairytale then pulls the rug underneath you and completely turns everything around.

With lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, Into the Woods debuted in San Diego at the Old Globe Theatre in 1986, and premiered on Broadway on November 5, 1987.The songs are one of the most challenging to perform seeing as it is by Sondheim but with the cast put together by director Joel Trinidad, viewers are in for a definite treat. I would know since I was one of the lucky few to get a sneak peek of the cast when they performed Ever After during the presscon

I honestly did not like the movie version but I have a strong feeling that with this musical production, I would feel otherwise. I'm definitely looking forward to watching the show especially after seeing the cast and how talented they are. As Joel Trinidad said, when you group together talented people who are also team players, all one has to do is sit back and let them shine. I can't wait to be blown away by this production of Into the Woods.

The full cast of Upstart Production Inc.’s “Into the Woods” - Chino Veguillas (Wolf), Kay Balajadia-Liggayu (Cinderella's Stepmother), Jill Peña (Florinda), Justine Peña (Lucinda), Reb Atadero (Jack), Jillian Ita-as (Little Red Riding Hood), Rachel Alejandro (Witch), Teenee Chan (Jack's Mother), Noel Rayos (Baker [at certain performances]), Noel Trinidad (Narrator), Mica Pineda (Cinderella), Robie Zialcita (Cinderella's Father), Charley Magalit (Rapunzel), Nicky Triviño (Ghost of Cinderella's Mother/ Red's Grandmother).  Not in the picture: Rachel Alejandro (Witch), Shiela Valderrama-Martinez (Baker's Wife), Lorenz Martinez (Baker), Gemini Quintos (Baker's Wife [at certain performances]), Juliene Mendoza (Cinderella's Prince), George Schulze (Rapunzel's Prince), and Onyl Torres (Steward).

You can get tickets from Ticket World. Show dates and other details are available through their Facebook Page.

fashion tips from a fashion lost cause

"I have nothing to wear!"

Every single time I open my closet, this is something that I almost always utter regardless of the fact that I probably have over 40 blouses, 5 pants, 6 skirts, and what not. I just feel that most of the time, the look that I am aiming for is not visible in my closet and in the clothes that I have which speaks gently of my fashion choices.

Thankfully, you can find a variety of women's blouses and tops at Zalora and browsing through it, it makes me giddy happy that they have the style that I would like to imbibe on a daily basis. Now I would like to believe that I am not the only hopeless Mom in the world when it comes to fashion so I would like to share a few tips that I have learned.

1. Have a look. This means that when you shop for clothes, always ask yourself, does this fall under the look I want to maintain and project? This will help ensure that you can mix and match the outfits that you buy since it will have a certain look that can work with the rest.

2. Always have the basics. There is a reason why they are called basics. These are items that every woman needs to have because they are timeless and they always work. The little black dress, the white shirt, the blazer, blue jeans, and classic shorts are just some of the basics.

3. If a piece of clothing doesn't make you go "oohh!" then don't buy it.

4. If it doesn't look good on you the first time you try it on, don't buy it.

5. If it looks like 4 other pieces of clothing you already have, don't buy it. I said its good to mix and match, you can't really do that if they all look the same.

So there ... I hope this helped a bit. Let me know in the comments below.

FILA Polo Cup 2015

The 1st of February marked the opening of the annual FILA Polo Cup held at the Manila Polo Club and sponsored by the market leader in the local sportswear industry, FILA, in cooperation with iSports Life Inc. Graced by FILA Royalty herself, Mrs. Cris Albert, the opening was a smashing success with the polo game ending with a score of 8 and 9; a definite nail biting moment.

Tim Yap, Cris Albert, and Tessa Prieto-Valdez

FILA is widely known in specializing technologically advanced footwear in running, casual, basketball and racquet sports. FILA has also diversified its reach into motor sports, fitness and yoga, mountain climbing, regatta sailing, skiing and sports fashion.

The Fila Polo Cup proceeds will go to iSports Life Inc., the CSR arm of FILA Philippines which has been supporting Filipino families through the years thru its various campaigns:

1. Operation Compassion – aims to feed 4,000 to 6,000 families at least once per day as well as provide spiritual guidance by building 50 home churches in different areas.

2. iFoster – conducts forums on foster care & adoption, hosts trainings and workshops for foster and adoptive parents, organizes foster and adoption support group, provides technical assistance on foster care & adoption, advocates women’s and children’s rights and protection.

3. iRebuild – provides emergency response to calamities and natural disasters, relief & medical missions, psychological counseling, camp management, holistic community development which includes community development, entrepreneurship, family values & spiritual formation as well as employment & skills enhancement.

I really like how FILA has turned around and made it more about reaching out and sharing the blessings they have received over the years. A brand that helps others is definitely a brand that is worth supporting.

Cub Scout Investiture

I never knew much about boys scout. All I knew about it was that they go camping, they train on how to figure out which plant is edible, and they do bonfires. See? I really don't know much about boys scout so it was quite a shock to me that B wanted to be one.

Since I was working on being a supporitve Mom and not imposing what I wanted for him, I gave him the approval he needed and sent him off his merry way. Yesterday, it was his investiture. Of course I attended but I thought it was just a small ceremony and they would just stand and be given a pin or something. I didn't know that it would involve the parents and we'd be the one putting on their handkerchief and cap as a sign that they are now official cub scouts.

B was the patrol leader for his group. He was very happy about this.

Imagine my surprise when parents were asked to go up the stage because apparently, we are part of this ceremony. Honestly, I'm just really happy to have been part of this and to be there for him.

I didn't know how to put the handkerchief on and had to be guided by B but I finally got it. Can you see the proud look on my face? Hahahahaha.

The next day, they had a day camp and B was declared the Most Outstanding Cub Scout. He was very proud of himself. I was just really happy that he did very well.

God really works in mysterious ways. Today, with this, he reminded me why everything that I go through everyday is worth it.

SmearForSmear Campaign

Participating in the ‪#‎SmearforSmear‬ campaign in support of Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust. The aim is to encourage women to get their regular pap smear tests. If this can save one life, then the campaign is already successful.

Hashtag it and raise awareness.

Meet My Feet

Finding a good pair of shoes that are both functional and fashionable for a little boy can be quite hard. I know this because I have a 9 year old son and it has always been a challenge to find him a good pair of shoes that won't also kill my waller. Thankfully, Meet My Feet came around.

Located on the 3rd floor of Festival Mall, I chanced upon this place in my quest of finding B a pair of shoes that is functional, fashionable, and budget friendly.

They definitely had a lot of choices for B which I really loved.

It took some time but we ended up with these two because they were the most flexible choice since it can work with both shorts and jeans.

I like that the styles are classics. I believe that children should be taught to love the classics because it never goes out of style. I also liked that the colors were not out of this world. Children have all the time to experiment with colors when they are teenagers. For now, they need to know the basics and love it. I also love that this was not heavy on the waller. The boots were Php1099 while the topsiders are Php1199.

For the Moms out there with little boys who are growing up way too fast, get a size or two higher than the current shoe size of your little one to ensure that they use it for a longer time. B is a size 1 but I got these two at size 2 just to prolong the usage. Thank God Meet My Feet now exists. Next time, I know where to go for B's fashion needs when it comes to his shoes.
