My Market Value
I was at a gathering once and I overheard a conversation which pretty mmuch stated the importance of market value. They siad that everytime someone transfers or hops in the call center industry (to which I belong), one's market value raises. If it doesn't, then there is somethign wrong. I used to agree with this but I have come to realize that you must also be happy with the people you are working with and be happy in your workplace. No matter how big your paycheck is, if you are stressed every single day, it doesn't matter.
Do you agree with me? Or is it really all about the money nowadays?
It's not just about the money. Just ask all those kids Epixtar burned. No self-respecting professional would work for those goons.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments. I think that her love for all things girly comse from her mom. I don't know how my husband feels living in a fru-fru house, but he never complains so I keep on going.
ReplyDeleteI worked in a call-center once. I moved up the chain pretty quick, but I am certain that if I would have jumped, I would have increased in value. As it was, I had amazing co-workers and I was very happy and didn't feel a reason to leave until I had my first baby.
Hi! Found your site via blogger and wanted to input briefly on this topic. I was in a company and actually hopped around so that I could raise my salary and it worked! but found out the hard way that I missed the great people that I had a real connection with and realized that I was stuck with people I didn't like in a place I wasn't so happy with. Hope that helps.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I too have a blog where I ask people to tell me about their day in seven words or less. If you're willing please stop by and tell me about your day! It can be anonymous! Cheers.

thanks for visiting my blog..
It is very important that you are happy where you work because that's where you spend almost half of your day. What's the point of earning lots of money in a job that makes you stressed out and miserable? It's just not worth it. - Gracey (snowflakes.nl)
ReplyDeleteI agree, you have to like working where you are at. Otherwise, the paycheck just isn't worth it.
