Everyone says that watching TV is not good for your kids. I agree to an extent but I also disagree.
These days, you need to adjust to the times and I know for a fact that there are certain things you can do to help your kids become smarter, more focused, and even help get them to sleep, all with the help of television.
My son is 8 months old. Most people would say he is too young to watch TV and part of me agrees. However, we have the pandemic now which means he can't' go out at all.
We need to keep him safe which means we need to keep him inside at all times. This also means that there are limitations to access.
Since I am also a working Mom, I needed to find a way to make things work for my son and I. This is what I do to make his TV watching productive.
1. Use the TV to set the tone of the day. In the morning, when baby wakes up, play nursery rhymes that are upbeat and happy. Choose the ones that teaches good manners, pleases and thank yous, and the like. It is never too early to embed these things in your baby. At night, when baby should be getting ready to sleep for at least 8 hours, play lullabies and dim the lights. Use the music to lull baby to sleep or choose a video that triggers sleep in babies. There are actually a lot of them.
2. Use the TV to teach your baby nursery songs. Sing with your kid. Act out the songs. Use this time as well to bond with your baby instead of plopping baby in front of TV and not minding him.
3. Use the TV to help you but not replace you. I believe that the problem with most is that they use the TV to replace them and soothe their kids. The TV is your friend but it is not the baby or kids temporary parents.
This is why I don't regret having put an Xtreme TV in our room. It has helped me with Khali and it teaches Khali the difference between day and night. You see, our room doesn't have a window so it's easy to lose track of time.
This is also the best way to ensure that your baby learns their ABCs more and even sing and dance. Remember that gadgets can be your best friend when handled correctly.
This has also helped me bond with Khali more. I danced and sing to him and he enjoys it. If you plan on getting a TV in your room, Xtreme has really affordable ones that they are selling and you can buy it from their website.
There are so many educational programs on TV that are very helpful for kids to learn letters, sounds, and songs. Dancing and singing with your little one is a great bonding experience.
