Mesclun

As part of my stay with The Linden Suites, Mesclun, their inhouse restaurant was gracious enough to host dinner for us. Now I have been hearing good things about Mesclun and so I was pretty excited to try what they had in store for us.

The place is quite big and can definitely sit more than 50 persons. I love the color they used because its cool and soothing to the eyes. As always, I opted for a couch seat because I find them more comfortable.

First order of the night was red wine. This wasn't as bitter as the other red wine that I have tasted but I'd still have to say that I am not a convert still. It's not the wine, its just me. This one is called the Malbec California and a glass is only at Php325.

This Andre's Poke (Php385) is made of tuna cerviche, soy sesame dressing, sriracha mayonnaise and crostinis. It was really good and very interesting. I don't think I have ever tasted this in my life and it was quite an experience. It seemed to have all the flavors on it and when you take a bite, its just a burst of different flavors all at once.

The Surf and Turf Tapas (Php585) was one of my favorite for the night. The tenderloin salpicao, gambas, and the herbed skillet potatoes were just perfect for each other and perfect for my tummy. If I had only this that night, I would have been perfectly fine.

The Grilled Salmon Fillet (Php715) however was the hands down winner for the night. Paired with mango-tomato salsa and buttered asparagus, this shouldn't be a miss when you order at Mesclun. It was just really good that even though I was so full already, I forced myself to finish the entire thing. I know, gluttony at its finest. Sue me.

The staff at Mesclun were all very sweet and thoughtful. They were there when I needed to request for something but they didn't hover nor intrude. They were very polite and professional.

Of course dinner won't be done without desserts and they had us try this one out. Strawberry Shortcake, Creme Brulee, and Choco Caramel. I died!

I loved the Creme Brulee the most since it was quite different but definitely, fans of strawberry and choco caramel won't be disappointed with these slices. This is actually how I reacted to the cakes.

I was sad because I couldn't eat them all anymore. Thank you so much Mesclun for having me around. I went back to my room burping all the way. Compliments to the chef!

A Staycation at The Linden Suites

Sometimes, when things just become too much and you feel like everything is falling into place but you yourself are falling apart, its a good move to just take a step back and breathe. Luckily for me, I was able to do just that last week when I had my staycation at The Linden Suites.

After work, I headed over to San Miguel Avenue where The Linden Suites is located. I love that its in the middle of a bustling city but the moment you enter, you don't hear any of the outside noise. It's like you enter a time capsule and you get transported to a place where its just all about comfort.

Upon entering the room, I was greeted by two beds. One was a queen sized bed while the other was a solo. This is perfect for couples with kids or friends who want to do a staycation together. They also have a 2 bedroom suite and a 3 bedroom suite for when you have big families or a gathering and want to make it private minus the need to clean up the next day.

The room is big enough to fit even 6 people and its still very spacious. I like that there is more than enough space to roam around and not bump into each other. There are hotels that feels cramped but The Linden Suites is definitely not one of those.

The beds were very comfortable. It wasn'y lumpy nor did it sink too much. It induced sleep faster than it should have and so I was left snoozing a few minutes after hitting the bed. The aircon could also be adjusted to your liking which I liked. Centralized aircons in a hotel room is not the best option especially for someone like me who easily gets cold.

The placement of the TV, study table, and the seat are well thought of. It really encourages you to relax and I found myself loving this chair. I wish I could take it home with me.

As for the vanity and closet, I found myself wishing that I had brought more clothes just so I could fill up the space. The vanity may be simple but it more than served its purpose. I loved the simplicity of it. They also have a special hanger for coats and dresses and I have to say that its in the little nuances that the Linden Suites stood out.

They are not flashy nor loud in how they take care of their guests. There were no note cards welcoming us but they were very cordial and efficient in handling things. They made me feel like I was home, just more posh and with room service which is exactly what a staycation should be like.

Ai Am Who Ai Am

What happens when you put the Philippine Queen of Comedy on stage and pair her with some of the best costume designers in town? AiAmWhatAiAm happens. AiAmWhatAiAm is a free concert by the one and only AiAi delas Alas. This served as her thanksgiving to all the fans and supporters who have stayed with her in all her 25 years in show business.

Miss Aiai delas Alas wore a total of 8 costumes for this concert, each more stunning than the previous one. This showed how flexible she is as a performer and how she has no qualms doing what needs to be done to ensure every performance is at par with world class standard.

Miss Aiai delas Alas is an ultimate performer. I believe that she is one of the most underrated concert performers that we have. She can sing, dance, make people laugh and get the crowd going. She isn't boring to watch on stage and even when you try to not laugh at her jokes, you just find yourself guffawing or letting out a chuckle.

When I was able to ask her co-stars in Let the Love Begin on how it was to work with Miss Ai, both Ruru and Gab said that she is a delight to work with. Professional and not intimidating at all were the common words used to describe her. Ruru Madrid said that he feels that Miss Aiai is a mother to him even when the camera is not rolling because she guides him in their scenes and gives him advices on how to handle things. Gab on the other hand is looking forward to having a scene with Miss Aiai because she knows that this would be a milestone in her career and she looks forward to working with her and learning from one of the masters.

Even on stage, Miss Aiai does not try to outshine her guests. She knows that she doesn't need to and her talent alone is more than enough to draw the attention of the crowd to her.

Truly, Miss Aiai delas Alas is a class act, on stage and off the stage.

MEGA Creations Premium

I was given a package of the newest product of MEGA sardines and I can say that I was definitely excited about it because I haven't seen this in the market. I also happen to like sardines so it was definitely something that I looked forward to trying.

I first tried the Mega Creations Premium in Tomato Sauce. The packaging was very attractive and it really caught my eye. I also liked that it was very easy to open.

I like that there were about 6-7 sardines in each bottle. I felt that it was worth whatever the money I would spend on it since it wasn't like the typical 3-4 in a can.

I loved this Tomato Mega Creations. It goes well with rice, bread, or even SkyFlakes. It adds an oomph to an otherwise bland viand or food pairing.

The Spanish Style Premium Creation is best paired with Sky Flakes. It was really, really good. I finished the entire bottle with about 20 pieces of Sky Flakes. Eeeppppp!

This is definitely something that I would buy at the market when it becomes available. To MEGA, kudos for coming up with a premium product such as this.

Sunsilk Selfie Moment

A lot of my friends and I are addicted to taking selfies not because we are vain but because we promote certain brands, make up, accessories that would require us to post about them. One thing that we always need to ensure when we are doing this though is that our hair should almost always be perfect or flowing. A selfie is just not a good one if your hair is all messed up.

Thankfully, Sunsilk ensures that we are always ready for a #SunsilkSelfieMoment

Ayala Malls Celebrate Mothers Day

When I first received the invitation to celebrate Mothers Day at an Ayala Mall, I was hesitant. After all, this would entail working on Mothers Day. However, my Mom and I have never done this and since they mentioned I could bring my entire family, I thought to myself, "why not?"

Last Sunday, my family and I tropped over to Market Market and this was a first for my Mom actually. I liked that there was someone there ready to guide us since Market Market had a lot of activities for us to do.

We started with a popping the balloon game and my Mom and son enjoyed this one.

They both won something which is good because it's quite depressing when you get a "better luck next time." note. Next on the list of activities was the "Love Letters to Mom" and my Mom's note to my Lola was heartbreaking. Major feels as the teenagers of today would say.

We also had an arts and craft session where we were asked to color things and draw a face of our Mom. This is what B made for me. I am such a proud Mom.

This is what we made for our Mom.

Afterwards, we were treated to a manicure pedicure at Nailaholics while the kids were sent to watch a movie. They really thought of everything and I was impressed with the attention to details. I went for the blue polish to match the pillows and accessories I will be reviewing soon.

My Mom was pretty pleased with the service which made me very happy as well.

Second to the last stop was dinner at Bossing's Grill which was located ath the Fiesta Market of Market Market and I gotta say, they had some impressive dishes.

Finally, the day ended with a concert from Kyla, the RnB Princess. We all enjoyed because she sang some familiar songs and was full of energy.

It was definitely a one of a kind Mothers Day and I am so happy that I said yes to this. We had fun, bonded, were pampered, fed, and then given the chance to enjoy a concert. What more could a Mom ask for on Mother's Day?

Thank you Ayala Malls and MadHouse MNL for this awesome experience.

you made a mistake ...

I've always been a firm believe that if you made a mistake, you should apologize and if possible, make up for it. However, I do not believe that one should pay for their mistakes over and over again. It's just not how things are supposed to be.

When someone makes you pay for a mistake over and over again, use it to their advantage, and simply make you feel bad, then you should know better. Walk away. Don't look back. You have apologized, you didn't mean to hurt them, and have already made amends. It should be enough. If its not, then it's no longer your problem.

The only time someone should make you pay over and over again is if you intentionally hurt them or set out to destroy them. Unless that's the reason, ENOUGH is ENOUGH. Walk away and learn from it. No one has the right to keep punishing you for the same mistake.

Antonio's in Tagaytay

"So much for being a food blogger. I have never even been to Antonio's."

Apparently, this was going to be the reason that I will finally get to go to Antonio's because my colleague decided to hold a meeting there. Upon entering, a man opened the double doors for us and I must say that it definitely added to the grandeur of the place. The foyer was a little intimidating and dark but I liked it.

The view from the foyer was also very relaxing. It was all greens with touches of dim lights here and there, staging what would definitely be a romantic setting for couples and people who would like to get to know each other better.

My shots were blurry because I was too much in a hurry to just really soak in the feel of the place. I wish I could go back in the morning and take really decent photos. I love the place, I love the feel of it, and I just love how it automatically relaxes you.

My friend and I went around the place and sat on a couch which was placed in the middle of a garden. We laid down on it and above us was a tree. Truth be told, it was a very romantic setting but since I was just with a friend, I had to leave the romantic part in my head.

It was a good place to brainstorm because all around there were trees and it was very relaxing. When creative people are stressed, this is a must. Finally, we went back to our table and had our dinner. For me, I had the lamb chop cutlets (Php2,200) and it came with soup, salad, and dessert.

I had mine medium well and it was succulent. Yes, it was really tender and it was very tasty. I loved it though I still feel its a little overpriced. However, if I take the place into consideration then I would say that it was just right. Ambiance, great food, awesome conversation and a meeting of the minds is definitely something that I would take any night.

Wyn and I

Thanks Wyn for this night. It was truly magical and the best part is, I actually came up with a pretty good idea for our project. :)
