Asus Zenfone Selfie Review

I grew up with a camera constantly on my face. My Mom has always been fond of capturing moments and she would always ask us to pose for the camera. I remember that every time we would go out, there would be photos taken. When I was a teenager, I hated it but eventually, I got into it and it all started when I first got my camera phone.

It was AVG quality and it was tiny but I loved it. I would constantly take photos of my outfits and MMS it to friends and I would constantly take photos of myself. My Mom said to me that we should always take photos so we have something to look back on in the years to come. You can tell yourself, "oh I looked like this when I was 20, 25, 30, etc."

When I had my own child, I became my Mom in the sense that my son was also bombarded with photos left and right. I constantly took photos and videos using my phone but would normally switch to my DigiCam for better shots. Eventhough the camera phones were good, it wasn't good enough.

I've tried a lot of different brands in the hopes of getting the one that would allow me to take a selfie whenever and wherever. Most were able to meet my demands as a selfie addict but there would always be an exemption. Finally, someone told me about the Asus Zenfone Selfie and the name itself got my attention.

I thought to myself "if they can name a phone the Selfie phone" then it must be able to allow me to take selfie's whenever I want and wherever I want regardless of the setting and the light. Guess what? IT IS A SELFIE PHONE!

So first, let me give you a quick look at THE ASUS ZENFONE SELFIE phone. I chose the color RED because I believe that red attracts luck and it is also a major color in my life. It's vibrant and I want my life to be more vibrant.

It has dual sim and a slot for microSD which I really love because one can never have too many memory though this phone comes with its own internal memory of 32GB. I was surprised that it was 32GB. It's pretty huge for a smart phone.

The charger comes in your standard format which is good but ASUS suggests using your own port and charger and not that of another brand to ensure that everything is at full capacity.

Now the earphones that come with the phone are not your run of the mill earphones. This is sleek in style and the audio quality is actually pretty great. Scratch that, it is awesome. The voice is clear when talking to someone and the music or audio from movies that I play are loud. I don't need to even put it on full capacity because it's very sharp. I actually gave up my other earphones and I am just using this now.

Now for the actual shots of the Asus Zenfone Selfie. Since it came with a flash on it's front camera and it claims to be 13MP for the front camera, this was the first test that I did. This room I was in was in complete darkness I kid you not. Looking at this shot though, you wouldn't believe me right because it looked like there was light. However, this was taken middle of the night in complete darkness. I also loved that eventhough there was a front flash, it wasn't the kind that would leave you blind. This matters because it would be so hard if you dropped your phone in complete darkness because you were blinded by the flash. Nobody wants that.

This other shot was taken at a bar where I normally host every Tuesday. In the past, I would always have a hard time taking a photo in here that would look half decent from my phone's camera because the lights here are yellow and the place is dimly lit. My photos would normally end up dark and grainy. I used the Asus Zenfone Selfie and ta-da! It looked like the place was well lit and bright.

I also used it to take a photo of my pen collection and it captured the details perfectly which I loved. I didn't have to do multiple shots just to get the shot that I wanted. I have minuscule patience and I am loving how this phone lets me take the shot I want in just one click.

Now these next two are the shots featured in my video review. I realized that since I used my digicam and shot myself on my own, I wasn't able to give the viewers a clear view of the shots that I took so here it is as promised.

One snap of the cupcake I had. There was no need to retake coz I used the back flashlight to lighten up the food and voila, one snap for food bloggers like myself. When you are fighting off other food bloggers during food reviews, it is very important to take the shot in one go. The Asus Zenfone Selfie allows me this and I am giddy with happiness.

This was the selfie I took during the video and I love how my face looks so much brighter without having to edit it. I just had to use the front flashlight to liven up my face and here's the photo. I look refreshed eventhough this was taken at 11 in the evening after a very long day.

Lastly, I took a shot of Mystic Brew Cafe where I took my video and without having to use any flashlight and simply choosing the HDR capability of my phone, I was able to take this very clear shot. Easy peasy. I LOVED IT.

If you're into phones, are not that good in learning new aspects of a phone, and do not want to break the bank buying a new phone, I strongly recommend getting the Asus Zenfone Selfie. It is a dream. Battery life is very good especially for someone like myself who uses the phone almost 24/7 and I didn't have a moment where I went "how do you do this?" It's very user friendly, light on the pockets, thin enough to be carried around without feeling lke a burden, and it lets you capture moments just like that. Heck, even the videos it takes are clear and precise.

Seriously, I loved this phone. I'm glad I met this phone and this phone is now my new boyfriend. I'm pretty sure this phone won't break my heart and in this day and age, that is something that every girl needs. A phone that will make you feel beautiful at all times, lets you talk to family and friends, helps you capture moments in the best way possible, and keep you company all the time. What more can you ask for?

I tried out the Vanilla Latte and it is simply amazing. It was created perfect. I didn't have to add anything to it at all.

Union Jack Tavern

I have been spending a lot of my Wednesdays at Union Jack Tavern which has allowed me to have a taste of the different food offerings that they have. Union Jack used to be a place that I would just pass by but never go into whenever I was at Festival Mall because I thought it was a bar filled with smoke and drunk people. Boy was I wrong.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was actually a resto-bar and that though there is a bit of smoke and people who drink, there were no unruly drunks and the place had a homey feel to it.

I love the leather seats and the big sturdy table. I love that it reminds me of old saloons and that it looked exactly how I would imagine a British pub would be like.

The first thing I was able to try here was the SEAFOOD CHOWDER and for the next 3 visits I had, it was the only thing I ordered. It was filled with lots of dory, shrimp, and salmon bits. It was SOOOO GOOD. Be careful though coz it is served piping hot.

This is one of the meals that they have that is worth every peso. It's a complete meal in just one plate. After eating the chowder, you can enjoy the bread with the butter with your coffee.

I've also tried the Fisherman's Pie which costs Php425. This contains salmon, white fish and prawns with thyme infused creamy sauce and topped with fresh mash potato and grated parmesan. This was heaven in every single bite.

My co-worker had the Slow Cooked Lamb Shank costs Php595 is something that I would appreciate in small doses but not in big ones. I liked the little pieces but felt overwhelmed when I had to finish an entire piece all by myself.

The good thing about Union Jack is that they also have a store beside it where they sell British products. They have so many interesting things that sometimes, I just wanna gather everything and buy it all.

Doc Pao Moves Forward

2015 will soon be over but Doc Paolo Bellosillo remains unstoppable and is actually already making plans for the upcoming 2016. As they say, when you want to accomplish something, the best time to get started is now and not tomorrow.

Despite his busy schedule, Doc Pao was able to take time off to sit down and answer a few questions regarding his future plans and I can definitely say that 2016 will be an awesome one for Doc Pao and most especially the people around him, for first on his list is to save lives. Having gotten to know Doc Pao over the past few months, one can no longer question his dedication to saving lives and doing everything within his means to ensure that each patient he treats not only lives but lives a quality life.

Quality of life is very important to Doctor Paolo Bellosillo and this is why he continues to learn new things to ensure that every single patient that passes him by will leave his hands with more love for life and with a yearning to have the best life he possibly can.

Since Doc Pao is not one to keep all the information and expertise he has accumulated, he also plans to take it to the next level and he would like to have more speaking engagements not just in Metro Manila but beyond. After all, the farther the reach, the more people will learn from him and the more people can spread his creed of giving not just life but quality life.

Doc Pao is also open for TV appearances and anything that is needed to reach a wider audience because this way, he can reach people that he may never meet in life. If he can make another life be better because they saw him talk about his kind of medicine on TV and they learned from it, then his purpose in this world would have already been served. Still, why stop at 1 when you can possibly save a million lives?

Doc Pao knows that there will be challenges and he actually welcomes them. He knows that these challenges will help him become a better person, doctor, and practitioner. He values life because he has already been to where his patients are and he is living proof that it can be overcome .He has had a heart attack but God gave him a chance to live once more and now, he wants to make sure that his life has a meaningful purpose.

In addition the whole medical system or holistic medicine approach is very promising in that many people have actually have wanted to go through it especially Doc Pao. It seems to me that Doc Pao is more than ready to take on 2016 and we can definitely say that with these goals, we are more than happy to support him in any way we can.

SM and Disney tie up for Christmas Launch

Every year, SM comes up with a theme to go with their spectacular display to showcase the Christmas season. Every year, little children flock to the many SM stores located all over the country to have their pictures taken with the grand Christmas tree and standees of the theme that have been chosen. This year, they won't be disappointed as everyone's favorite mouse and duck are more than ready to dance and play with the little ones.

SM North EDSA unveiled its Christmas Masterpiece dubbed "A Season of Magic" and they will be showcasing the different Disney Characters that everyone has come to love. People were also given the chance to have a sneak peek of the different Disney villages and have their photos taken in front of it. I know I had an awesome time having my photo taken.

They invited several singing child stars to sing some of the Disney favorite tracks and it was truly a sight and a sensation to hear, see, and feel.

Wilkins Moms Circle of Trust

One of the things that turn Moms into paranoid creatures is the worry about our children's safety. We worry about everything and when I say everything, I mean everything. We worry about the food our children eat, we worry about the places they go to, the stuff surrounding them, and we worry about the water they drink.

Like I said, we worry about everything.

I wanted to learn more on how I can better protect B and also wanted to share some of the things that I have learned in the 10 years I have been a Mother.

From the tips below you will learn that a quick visit to a hardware store or the nearest supermarket can save moms from a nerve-wracking trip to the hospital. Here are just some of the tips shared with the moms during the Wilkins event that you yourself can try at home:

• .      Scout the Territory. The first step is to take a child’s eye view of your home. Get down on your knees to see for yourself what’s within reach, what looks tempting, and what could be dangerous for your kids.
• .      Cushion Sharp Edges and Soften Up Corners. Invest on furniture edge guards and corner protectors; foam pipe insulations for instance are easily available at hardware stores. When your child starts running around the house, you’ll be thankful you brought that extra protection.
• .      Keep Window Cords Up High. Loop and tie window cords to keep them out of reach of children, but not too high that you can’t lower the shade all the way down.
• .      Duct Tape on Power Outlets. Cover reachable openings with duct tape or band aid to avoid the risk of electrocution.

When B was an infant until he was 3 years of age, I only let him drink Wilkins because it was the safest water I knew of and it was recommended by his pedia and other Moms. I'm so glad that Wilkins existed because I kept worrying about LBM and other diseases caused by unclean water.

Zonta Alabang presents Carnivale

They say that beauty without heart or purpose is worthless. When I met the Zonta women yesterday over brunch, I was blown away by how well bred and poised they were. When I learned of their advocacies and initiatives, I was in awe. These women, who are professionals themselves and lead busy lives find time to help and reach out to those in need. They are not the kind of women who just lunch out and shop around. 

They make a difference in the world and it is the good kind of difference.

Let It Go Coloring Book by Sherise Seven

When I first received this coloring book, I thought to myself, "it looks so different." I meant it in a bad way too because I thought the lines were all squigly and it looked unpolished at first glance. However, when I read this, I understood and then I APPRECIATED what Sherise Seven hoped to accomplish and why this book looked the way it did.

After I read this, I saw the book in a different light and in the way that the artist wanted it to be seen. This book was not perfect nor does it require perfection when you draw on it. The aim of this book is to remind you that coloring and doodling is meant for you to relax and not obsess about the tiniest detail or whether or not you had no colors going over the line. This book simply wanted you to color. It wants you to LET IT GO and just color away and breathe out all the negativity in your life by relaxing your mind.

I did exactly what was asked and wrote down something that was causing me great stress. After, I blacked it out until you couldn't read what it was that I wrote. It felt cathartic.

Afterwards, I had to choose which among the many pages they had to color.  These are some of my favorites.

I had fun doing this and eventhough it was not perfect, I didn't mind it at all. This coloring book feels like a friend. It does not intimidate you nor make you feel inadequate. You go over the line and you just think, the artist said it was okay so it's okay. It felt PERFECTLY IMPERFECT.

We met back in 2011 online. You messaged me and asked me about something. This went on for 3 months sporadically. I wasn't really interested, merely curious. Apparently, the old adage "curiousity kills the cat" is true. Oh, and no, pun not intended but how you killed me is a story for the latter part of this post.

We were together for 13 months and then you gave up on us. You gave up on me. Whereas I never gave on you when we had issues with your ex-girlfriend, you gave up on me and you made sure you made me feel like I was the worst person on Earth because I unintentionally hurt you ...

because I made you doubt yourself 
because I made you lose yourself 
because I made you fear me 
because because because ....

Well you know what, I say BULLSHIT.

I did not destroy you. You destroyed yourself.
I did not made you doubt yourself. You doubted yourself.
I did not make you lose yourself. You willingly lost who you were or perhaps, you never really found who you were in the first place because if you knew who you really were, no woman should ever be able to make you lose who you are.
I did not make you fear me. You feared me because you never thought you were good enough beneath your false bravado and false confidence.


For the past 30 months, every time we speak to each other and I ask you, you would avoid answering me straight but you never hesitated to blame me. We broke up coz of me, me, me, me. It's always me. It's like you never did anything wrong, like you never hurt me, never made me doubt because of your ex-girlfriend. It was just me. I was the bad one.

For the past 30 months, I believed you. After all, you were the nice one and I was the cranky one. You were friendly and I was not so friendly. You would go out of your way and do things for me and I was the one who would just not appreciate it.

For the past 30 months since we broke up, I have been painted as the bad one. You broke up with me even though you love me. You're still there for me because you wanna make sure I'm okay. You can't get back with me coz you're scared of me but you have absolutely no problems taking advantage of things if it fits what you want.

TAKE ADVANTAGE; such a strong accusation you might say. Yes, I accuse you of that because you keep saying you're not really happy when I ask you if you are. You keep saying you're just so-so. If you are pretending to just be so-so for my sake, I don't get it. If you are pretending to not be happy for my sake, there is absolutely no reason to do that. You tell me LIES and so I say you are using your lies to take advantage of me.

I am done. I thought you were my knight in shining armor but apparently you were the poison in the apple I bit years ago. I just didn't realize you were one of those poison that kills you slowly but surely. I am done hurting and dying to feed your ego.

I didn't mean to hurt you ... not once in the 13 months we were together did I wake up with the intention to inflict pain on you but for the past 30 months, you have slowly, deliberately, and systematically sought to destroy every piece of my heart. You are a coward, a cheater, and a fool and I am done enabling you.

PS. Stop cheating. If she doesn't make you happy like you always tell me every single month we speak and see each other, then dump her. Every girl deserves a guy who will be FAITHFUL to her.
