85/365 photoblog: B with the BB
I finally decided to give B a phone and it was the BB that FM gave me. I hope that he will take care of it. I gave it to him so that he can text me and call me whenever he misses me.
Just Thai: Appetizers and Soup
I was invited to do a food review of this Thai restaurant located in Molito, Alabang. Now, I have eaten at several Thai places so the bar was set pretty high because I believe that I knew my Thai food.
The first thing I noticed was the interior. I loved that it was very chic and modern but still had a strong hint of Thai influence as seen with the Buddhist icons.
After soaking in the ambience of the place and getting to know the owners, we finally ordered. We started with appetizers but because there were so many choices to choose from, we ended up getting a lot. Take note, these are just appetizers.
I liked the Iced Coffee because it had a distinct flavor to it. It wasn't too sugary sweet but it also wasn't too bitter. It was coffee with a strong hint of milk.
We got this but we requested that it be mildly spicy only since B was with us. The soup was very interesting. I liked that the veggies were really fresh and that there was an overload of fillings and even beef slices. To be honest, the soup alone was already filling. The little beef tidbits were delicious to munch on and the beef slices were really soft. The soup itself was also quite flavorful.
This salad is love. It's almost like those ground beef wrapped in lettuce. YUMMY! I really, really liked this. I actually ate it as wrapped gound beef lettuce and not as a salad.
Now if you are looking for something that would be worth every peso you spend, this is the dish for you. I was amazed that it had 5 sticks of big chicken slices. The normal chicken sate I see are so skinny I wondered if they were vying for America's Next Top Sate. For this one, I knew that I was in the right place and that the goal is to feed and not starve customers.
The catfish with green mango salad was a surprise. The name alone did not inspire anything in me but upon havin a bite I realized that I did not give this dish a chance before. It was definitely green mango and it had that sour taste which I am normally not a fan of but for this one, it was tolerable.
Yes it still managed to make me squirm but it was a good kind of squirming.
This is another must on my recommendations when eating at Just Thai. It was crispy, it was fresh, and it was simply good. It was what a spring roll should be. It wasn't too elaborate. It was simply good.
All I can say is that the appetizers and soup alone of Just Thai is already more than enough to fill you. What more when it comes to their main course?

83/365 photoblog: Surprise!
We pulled off surprising Jenny on her birthday. She honestly thought that I was her co-host for the day and that Louella was in Boracay for a shoot. She was really pissed at first and cried buckets when she saw that it was all just part of a plan to surprise her. :)
Happy birthday Jenny. :)

82/365 photoblog: Sitio Remedios
This is the house that has been featured so many times whenever Ilocos Norte is mentioned in travel shows or magazines. It is called Balay nga Puraw. It was definitely a sight to see.
I am so thankful to Dr. Cuanang for letting me stay at Sitio Remedios over the weekend.

I was blessed enough to have had dinner in front of Paoay Church. It was breathtaking and it was simply stunning. I felt so much in awe while I was eating to have had the pleasure of having this magnificent church right in front of me.
God is good.

80/365 photoblog: Good Morning Kuya
It was my first time to guest in Good Morning Kuya. It was a different kind of experience but it was still very pleasant. I really like the dynamics of the UNTV team and staff.
I'm glad they liked me enough to have guested on their show. :)

sibling rivalry
I was asked to talk about sibling rivalry and how to prepare an only child for the coming of a sibling last Monday in Rise and Shine. For those who do not know, its a morning talk show at UNTV (a cable channel) and I have guested there 2x already.
Sibling rivalry is something that I am fully aware of for I have experienced this. I have an older sister, 2 younger brothers, and one younger sister. I am a normally jealous person and when my younger siblings were born, I was not a happy camper. Actually, to say that I wasn't a happy camper would be an understatement.
My suggestion then to ensure that your child does not end up like me who tried to sell my brothers to the next door neighbor would then be the following:
1. Talk to your child. Explain what is happening and make them a part of the process. Usually, the kid gets placed on the sidelines and this is where resentment builds.
2. Assure them that they are not being replaced. They are normally the star and when the baby comes, definitely the attention will be taken away. It is up to you to make them understand that even when it does, he is still definitely a star in your world.
3. Make believe. Play with your child using dolls and situations. Show him how he can be a better person and take care of a small thing who will be dependent on him. Play up the protective instinct and nurture it. This will also help make your child a better person in the long run.
4. Make time. Yes, the pregnancy can be exhausting and giving birth will be time consuming and taking care of a baby draining but you NEED to make time. You NEED to.
Lastly, PRAY. Pray for guidance and wisdom and pray for understanding. At the end of the day, all we can do is hope and pray that things will turn out to be good but a little push here and there will definitely help in the long run.

MyKaffe BakeShop
I finally got to visit the MyKaffe BakeShop owned by a friend of the family. First thing I noticed was the location. A bakeshop like this belongs to a more chic place but its located along 4th Ave in Caloocan. Thankfully, the crowd in the area seems to have learned to appreciate a good kaffe when there's one and MyKaffe is one.
I like the cozy vibe of the place. I loved the vibrant colors and the decals on the wall. I just wished that there were more frames because there was too much brown space available.
I ordered a Cafe Mocha and I love that they personalized the latte art. The "Ken" is just adorable. It is LOVE. Another thing I loved was the Potato Cookie. Yep, you read that right ... they have a cookie that has potato crisps inside and the saltiness of the potato chip coupled with the sweetness of the cookie is really good.
Another thing I loved about MyKaffe was the Salted Caramel Cupcake. It is the first time that I took a bite of a salted caramel thing and actually tasted the salt. I liked it so much that I actually finished the entire thing and I really didn't want to because I had an entire plate of cupcakes to try.
See? A plate full of cupcakes and I ended up eating the one above fully because it was just too good.
MyKaffe is definitely a bakeshop I'd recommend to anyone. They have really good mocha and salted caramel cupcake. They also have a very interesting potato crisp cookie. :)
PS. Try the Raspberry drink. It's DELICIOUS. :)

B and his medals ...
Today was B's recognition day. I cancelled all plans just to ensure that I will be able to spend time with my son as well as my Mommy friends.
I felt so proud of my son. He has been consistently getting awards since he started school and I don't even push him to get it. He does this on his own, because he wants to get those awards.
I am so proud of him.
I love that all our kids are achievers as well. :) Below are B's medals. :)

TJG: Katsu-mazing
I was invited to try the newest dish Tempura Japanese Grill has to offer and I've to be honest, I was very excited to do so. I invited some other blogging friends to share the fun and I am so happy I did. It was a night of indulgence once more.
Sigh, this whole losing weight thing is definitely losing. Here's our little group eating and having fun.
Now lets start with the food. The Unagi Katsu was very interesting. Eel is something that a lot of people don't get to cook right because if not cooked well, its slimy and eeewww but cooked too well and it becomes blah.
The salmon katsu was love. I do not know how they maintained that the salmon in the middle was still fresh and not cooked. It was AMAZING. It was KATSU-mazing. See what I did there? Ha!
The tuna katsu was also the same. Can you see how the breaded part is all deep fried but the tuna is still as fresh as it should be? Mind boggling for someone who is not a chef. Crunchy and then soft and fresh. Crazy. Seriously, crazy.
However, everything failed when I took a bite of the KUROBOTA. Emergad. Oh my God! Omigod. It was so soft that at first I thought, "this can't be meat. It's like marshmallow soft." Then you feel the tastiness and sweetness of the meat.
I was impressed and I am rarely impressed when it comes to food nowadays. It was AMAZING I kid you not.
Try the new Katsu-mazing dishes of Tempura Japanese Grill available in all branches in the greater Metro Manila. It's definitely worth your budget.

Top of the Citi by Chef Jessie: Appetizers, Salads, and Souffle
I was very lucky to have been personally invited by Chef Jessie to do a food review for all her 3 restaurants. I had a taste of her cooking when I taped for KrisTV and I knew that this was going to be treat for sure.
Top of the Citi is located on the 34th floor of Citibank Tower 1 in Paseo de Roxas, Makati. The view from above is simply amazing and definitely worth a visit. Look at the view ... and me. Haha.
On the inside, everything was classy and elegant.
This is a place that is definitely not for those who are on a budget. It's a place to splurge and impress and definitely, it will impress. Now, lets start with the food.
This was a small bite of heaven. The combination of the salmon, the caviar, cream cheese, onions, crouton, and the ground pistachio was simply delicious. It was different flavors mixed into one gastronomical delight. The only thing I did not like about it was that it was too small. I could have eaten 8 of these and still want more.
For this one, I was initially overwhelmed by the amount of cheese but after 5 seconds it starts playing with your tongue and then you just can't get enough. Weird but that's how it was for me.
Hands down, this is the 2nd best salad I have ever tasted. The shrimp was fresh and juicy, the raspberry sauce complemented everything and the shitake mushrooms were to die for. The fresh fruits added some tanginess and citrus flavor to the whole thing.
This came with some really tasty seared scallop, juicy shiitake mushrooms, parma ham and goat cheese in creamy balsamic sauce. I found it interesting because the goat cheese brought out the taste of the goose liver for me. This was something new to me so it was definitely something.
Lovers of souffle would definitely find this interesting. Looking at it, it would seem like a small round plate but its actually quite filling and after 3 bites, I just couldn't take anymore. I felt like I was about to burst. Besides, I had to make room for the main course and dessert but that is another post waiting to happen.
