Exeltis Philippines launches Mypicos®, promotes better health for women with PCOS

Women’s health company Exeltis Philippines launches Mypicos®, a European-made dietary supplement to help improve the reproductive health of women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Promoting better wellbeing for Filipino women, Mypicos® is composed of Myo-Inositol and Folic Acid which helps with menstrual cycle regularity, fertility, acne, and oocyte (egg) and embryo quality.

“Launching Mypicos® is a look into the future. With the formulation already commercially-available and being used by several countries, particularly in Europe, it is now the Philippines’ turn to have access to this innovation. Filipino women now have Mypicos® for their PCOS,” says Ramiel Esteban, Mypicos® Product Manager.

Over 1,500 Obstetricians and Gynecologists were present during the nationwide virtual launch event led by Dr. Pedro-Antonio Regidor, Medical Director of Exeltis Europe and author of various Myo-Inositol clinical studies, Dr. Ditas Cristina Decena, past president of Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, and Dr. Ma. Isidora Margarita Yap-Garcia, a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Specialist.

Sharing significant insights on women’s health, topics discussed in the launch were essential information on PCOS, case studies, as well as the Mechanism of Action of Myo-Inositol and Studies on PCOS and Women’s Health.

“Although there’s little local data on the prevalence of PCOS in the Philippines, we do know that it affects about 8-11% of women of reproductive age, worldwide. That’s roughly 1 out of 10 women,” notes   Dr. Ma. Isidora Margarita Yap-Garcia.

Dr. Yap-Garcia emphasized that the cornerstone of managing PCOS is lifestyle modification in which dietary supplements such as Myo-inositol play a role. According to her, it helps regulate insulin and glucose metabolism resulting in a cascade of beneficial reproductive effects.

“There is increasing evidence that Myo-inositol improves ovulation rates. Also, for women undergoing IVF, it has been shown to improve the quality of eggs and embryos which result in higher pregnancy rates”, the fertility expert added.

Dr. Ditas Cristina Decena also notes that the supplement helps decrease the probability of noncommunicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome in women in addition to its reproductive health benefits.

“Maintaining the medical welfare of women is crucial as they carry the vital function of child bearing and ensuring the wellbeing of the future generations. A healthy mom translates to a healthy baby as she carries the fetus in her womb for nine months (10 months from the first day of the woman's last period),” highlights Dr. Decena.

A branded division of the Insud Pharma Group based in Spain, Exeltis has a strong presence in over 40 countries including the Philippines. In the country, products are mainly focused on improving women’s reproductive health and the treatment of vaginal infections.

“Our goal is to improve the quality of life of millions of people worldwide by providing access to effective, safe, and first-class therapeutic solutions. In the Philippines, we acknowledge the need to address the reproductive health needs of women, especially those who are dealing with PCOS. Our thrust is to become a strong women’s health company especially now with the introduction of Mypicos®” shares Angelo Palma, General Manager of Exeltis Philippines.

Made affordable for every woman, it is priced for only Php 675.00 per box of 30 sachets and Php 22.50 per sachet. The product is now available in Mercury Drug branches nationwide and can be bought over-the-counter.
