Weekly Updates # 3

I received over 40 press releases last week but chose only a few to publish because some of the press releases I received were from brands that I've never really worked with. Sending press releases is not relationship forming my dear PRs, not for me anyway so from now on, I refuse to post them especially since this is a personal site.

The others were of TV shows that I have never seen nor plan to watch so I can't really recommend them as well. So for this week, we have only a few items but these are all events and things that I myself look forwardto.

What's happening around the metro?

The country’s garment and leather goods industries take center stage at the 1st Philippine Garment and Leather Goods Industries and Fabric Expo set on August 23- 26, at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.

The Expo hopes to gathermanufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, and stakeholders to bolster the huge potential of these the garments, leather goods and
fabric for export.

International Collaboration Brings Sailing to Filipinos

An International collaboration of organizations involved in sailing and boatbuilding has brought about the popularity of the Oz Goose sailboat, an easy to build sailboat designed by Batangas-based Australian designer Michael Storer. This initiative has helped dispel the myth that sailing is only for the rich, it has also made sailing affordable and user-friendly and drawn more Filipinos to take up a hobby and sport that is virtually a perfect fit for the country’s archipelagic geography.

This is great news as we are a country surrounded by water. This initiative was brought about through the efforts of the Philippine Home Boatbuilders Yacht Club or PHBYC, an internet group of boating enthusiasts that promote affordable boating and sailing through do-it-yourself wooden boats.

I am MAD launches ‘MACbooklet’

(Munting Aksyon na Dapat) Gawin ng Batang Pilipino to school children during its recent outreach activities in remote areas around the Philippines.

What's happening with Entertainment?

Netflix announced the season three pick-up and start of production for the Emmy® Award-nominated Queer Eye.

The make-better series recently received four Emmy® Award nominations for its inaugural return season with recognition in the Structured Reality Program, Casting, Picture Editing and Cinematography categories.

Queer Eye season three will debut in 2019.

What's happening with sports?

If making history as the first three-division world champion in mixed martial arts is what Martin Nguyen is after in his highly-anticipated encounter against Kevin Belingon, the Filipino spitfire could likewise establish a new record for the Philippines in ONE Championship should he win over his Vietnamese-Australian foe.

Both men are slated to face each other in the main event of ONE: REIGN OF KINGS, which takes place at the 20,000-seater SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines on July 27.

On another note, former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang is nearly a year removed from last having the world title around his waist, but the dream of being once again recognized as the best in the world lingers. And it’s a dream that Folayang says he will continue to chase for as long as necessary.

Following a tremendous all-around performance against Kharun “Predator” Atlangeriev last May, Folayang is in a tremendous position to put together a solid little win streak.

If he emerges victorious in his next outing, Folayang could very well strengthen his case for another shot at the lightweight belt.

I'm really hoping Bellingon and Folayang will both win because I have seen these fighters when they were just new and I have seen their struggles inside the cage. Also, it would be an awesome win since it's hometown.

So that's it for this week!
