With so many things that happened over the weekend, this week's weekly updates comes two days late. My apologies about that but as they say, better late than never.

All about ONE CHAMPIONSHIP

1. ONE Championship recently announced its partnership with Nakornloung Promotion to co-promote the world title defense of WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai in the main event of ONE: KINGDOM OF HEROES, which is set to take place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on October 6.

“Our work in boxing has always been driven by our passion and love. The best part of it is that we get to give life-turning opportunities to boxers and their families. Each of them has their own stories, but they are all driven by the same dream - to be the world champion,” said Thainchai Pisitwuttinan, the head honcho of Nakornloung Promotion.

“I am glad that our promotion and ONE Championship have coalesced in having a common mission and vision for combat sports athletes around the globe,” he added.



Dipping its toes into boxing is a no-brainer for ONE Championship after it launched the highly-acclaimed ONE Super Series last April, which was created with the purpose of showcasing the purest forms of striking arts such as Muay Thai and kickboxing on the biggest and most prestigious stage of competition.

At a press conference in Manila, Philippines three months ago, ONE Championship big boss Chatri Sityodtong hinted plans to establish a professional boxing league in addition to ONE Super Series, inviting boxers from all over the globe to join the promotion.
 
A few months later, Sityodtong proved that he was dead serious in hosting boxing matches in ONE Championship, announcing his partnership with Nakomloung Promotion in staging Rungvisai's homecoming bout in Thailand on October 6.

2. ONE WARRIOR Series holds successful midseason Finale 

Rich Franklin's ONE Warrior Series, a subsidiary of  ONE Championship™ (ONE), the largest global sports media property in Asian history, recently concluded the season 2 midseason finale of its wildly popular ONE Warrior Series, held last Thursday, 19 July in Singapore. 

The brightest young stars in martial arts came out to participate in action-packed bouts. After a series of compelling contests, Anita Karim, Mark Cuizon, Ismael Bandiwan, Ali Motamed, and Mark Abelardo each received a Warrior Bonus for their extraordinary performances.


Rich Franklin, CEO of ONE Warrior Series, stated: “The second OWS event was live for the first time on the ONE Super App. It was a a big step up for the organization and our athletes. They rose to the challenge and entertained the viewers with some of the most exciting matches I have ever seen. We awarded five Warrior Bofnuses to a group of athletes who left everything in the ring!”

Jonathan Fong, Director of ONE Warrior Series, stated: “ONE Warrior Series 2 marked the return of some of the most entertaining prospects as well as the highly anticipated OWS debut of other recruits. It was a highlight-filled evening with 13 finishes and two of the most exciting and competitive match ups. Can't wait to run it back in October!”

The second half of Season 2 will air in September 2018.

YouTube NextUp returns to the Philippines


YouTube announces the launch of its NextUp contest in the Philippines to turbocharge the careers of local up-and-coming YouTube creators. Since its launch in 2011, NextUp has helped over 500 creators in more than 13 countries take their channels to the next level, giving them skills, mentorship, and a network to help them create compelling content. This year, YouTube NextUp is looking for creative and inspiring creators who will join a week-long creator camp at the next YouTube Pop-up Space Manila from September 7 to September 12 where they will learn production techniques from NextUp alumni and work closely with top YouTube creators.

Binge on Shonda Drama This August on Sony Channel 

Shonda Rhimes’ drama series return on Sony Channel with new seasons of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal this August. 

Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) returns to Washington, D.C. after her absence leaves a void on her team. Olivia Pope & Associates has closed down, forcing Abby (Darby Stanchfield), Huck (Guillermo Diaz), and Quinn (Katie Lowes) to work elsewhere. 
Abby lives a new life as she is now the White House Press Secretary. However, she later finds herself confronting a personal trauma as she is thrust in the presence of her abusive ex-husband, who has been nominated for Virginia State Senator.


Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) begins his second term with a plan to make positive changes for the nation. Everybody finds it hard to cope with Harrison’s (Columbus Short) death, Olivia being the hardest. In addition, she also discovers a betrayal within her firm.

Scandal Season 4 premieres on August 9, every Thursday at 10:40pm, with back-to-back episodes, first and exclusive on Sony Channel.
