Hawker Chan opens in the Philippines

Finally, authentic Singaporean hawker has made it's way to Manila.

Last year, I was able to visit Singapore and did my coffee tour, Singapore eats, and of course, showcased how IG friendly Singapore is. One of the things that left a mark on me was the hawker food. Cheap, tasty, and accessible, it is found all over Singapore, ensuring that even tourists with small budget can have a taste of everything that Singapore has to offer.

Today, we were lucky to have a bite of Hawker Chan before it officially opens to the public. Can you see how happy I am?

Hawker Chan promises to have the same taste as it's original counterpart. For appetizers, we were given the Fried Tofu with Chili Sauce. The tofu was actually quite tasty since the sweet chili sauce already seeped in. The apple slices helped to take out the bite of the chili and the shallots and peanuts complemented the overall taste.

Hawker Chan Philippines has 4 primary dishes. The Soya Chicken, charsiew, roasted pork, and pork rib.

So we decided to try out all of the dishes so we can give a good verdict. Note that when you do order a two meat sampler or 3 meat sampler, there will be no rice or noodles that will go with it. Ours had it for tasting purposes only.

Okay. Let's do this one by one.

The roast pork is good. The skin is crispy and the meat is tasty. The roast pork, I'm not a fan of. The chicken is delicious albeit a bit oily. It is big though so definitely bang for your buck. The one that I truly loved the most is the char siew. (photos below are from their Facebook Page.)

Roast Pork

Egad! It is delicious especially paired with noodles or rice. I actually finished one entire rice and one entire noodle. Some people said that it's not good but for me, I liked it. It's simple. It's delicious. It's affordable. Check. Check. Check.

Tomorrow is their opening day and they have something for their first 100 customers.

So if you are looking for your next date place and you are on a budget, Hawker Chan is definitely a must try. As I said, it's tasty and affordable.
