South Eats: Aktrotiri

There are so many delicious restaurants in the South but most of them are jammed together in Aguirre or President in BF Paranaque. There are so few located in Filinvest, Alabang that when one opens, it is a reason for celebration.

I loved the interior of the place. It's not too big nor is it too small. It's cozy which is what the South is all about. Chill, relaxed, and all about laid back relaxation. If your restaurant is not any of these, chances are, you need to have a niche market o you close shop in less than 6 months.

Akrotiri offers modern Eurasian cuisine. Some of the best culinary styles and dietary dialects found in different coastlines takes centerstage at Akrotiri. This is because Akrotiri means peninsula in Greek.

Akrotiri (Greek: Ακρωτήρι, pronounced Greek: [akroˈtiri]) is a Minoan Bronze Age settlement on the volcanic Greek island of Santorini (Thera). The settlement was destroyed in the Theran eruption about 1627 BC and buried in volcanic ash, which preserved the remains of fine frescoes and many objects and artworks.

Now let's talk about what really matters, the food.

They showcased almost everything from the menu and it was definitely a sight to see. So many sumptuous foods being offered but of course, there were a few that stood out.

This sea food tagliatelle clams, mussels, prawns, squid, tomatoes and lobster was definitely a winner. It was tasty and the combination of all the seafood just brings you back to the shores of the beach.

This is my personal favorite. The prawn curry definitely came with a bang. I actually sipped every last ounce of the soup coz it was that good.

This sisig tacos with pork belly, peppers, lettuce & red cabbage was also another winner in my opinion. It's a great way to start your meal but you need to be careful because you might end up being full coz you won't stop eating and eating.

Now this quinoa was also another must try. I've never liked quinoa but I loved this one. I could eat quinoa everyday if it was made like this.

The sea grilled salmon fillet with tzatziki-wasabi dressing & fried rice is also a strong recommendation from my end for those who are a little conscious of their figure. Salmon is good for the heart and the fat from it is not the bad kind as well.

Now the one dish that I want to come back to is this: chicken satay skewers with rice, curry sauce & grilled vegetables. I swear, I could eat two of these. The combination of the satay, the curry sauce, and the rice was just perfect. It reminded me of what I had back in Malaysia.

I'd definitely recommend Akrotiri for anyone in the South or anyone who would like to have a taste of modern Eurasian. It's bang for your buck and definitely worth a visit.
