Bonding over Coloring Books

My son and I have both been coloring for quite some time now. Lately though, with the emergence of the adult coloring craze, we have found a new source for our coloring addiction. Whereas we used to color with the kiddie coloring pages, we are now faced with more challenging pages that hone our
skills and test our patience.

Most days now when I am at home, this is what we do.

my work
Even when we go out and have coffee (milk for him) we now end up coloring. He shows off his work and I show off mine, both of us craving the approval of the other haha.

B's work
And right now, as I am typing this, he is working on a new one.

I love the whole aspect of the coloring thing because of so many things:

  1. It encourages you to focus. You need to concentrate so that you won't go over the line.
  2. It encourages creativity. You can color things in any way or form now. A dog doesn't necessarily need to just be brown, white, or black. You can color it shades of blue and it will look awesome.
  3. It encourages discipline.
  4. It helps you pass time productively. You can tear off the pages and frame it. It will make for a great personalized gift. You hit two birds with one stone.
  5. It's a great bonding moment between friends and family. I do it with my son and we end up spending hours with each other creating new things.
  6. It relaxes the mind. Since he started coloring once more, B has been more calm and less aggressive. The same goes for me.
I know that even when this craze is over, B and I would still be coloring. After all, we have been doing it for the past 6 years together and I know that even when he's a teenager, we'd still be coloring together.

  6. I color with my daughter all the time. It’s funny that you should post this because last week, we celebrated Christmas in July and watched Christmas movies while coloring in our Christmas coloring books. It’s a great way to bond, giggle, and relax with our littles. Great!!

  19. That is such a fun way to spend time with your kids. I know I have a lot of fun drawing with my nephew. I like to color myself (it's so relaxing), but he's not really into it.

  20. I wish I can do that with kids. I miss my childhood coloring days where it was mostly just me and my artistic attempts, nowadays with how kids are going over digital craze, it might be wise to have them go over real coloring activities with people around them.

Hi! Let's all try to add more positivity in this world and adhere to the saying, "if you don't have anything nice to say, keep silent."

Showering you with unicorn poop so you'd always stay magical! Heart heart!
