Village Tavern

My idea of a tavern was actually that of a dark place filled with wenches and drunkards. Thankfully, the Village Tavern wasn't anything like that. In reality, it was a very classy place that uses dark wooden colors giving it a masculine and homey feeling.

We first tried the Chorizo and Goat Cheese Rolls (Php295) which is Spanish Chorizo and goat cheese served  with home made salsa. It was actually pretty good and tasty. The combination of the chorizo and cheese was pretty good.

The Sesame Chicken Teriyaki Wings  (Php245) was sweet and tangy. I honestly wanted to eat more but was well aware that I had to cut down on food intake. I guess I need to stay away from these while I am working on losing weight.

The Grilled Chicken Penne (Php450) was absolutely perfect. The caramelized onion paired with the chicken, pasta, and pancetta just worked so well with each other. The cream wasn't overpowering. The chicken was cooked really well and the pasta was al dente.

The Shrimp Portofino (Php450) was cooked in garlic, fresh basil, and parmesan tossed with ttucine and homemade Tuscan sauce. It was pretty good but it wasn't a favorite. Its not a waste of money that much I can say.

After pasta, we also got some pizza. Since I like trying out new things, I decided to get the Forest Pizza and the Black Pizza.

The Forest Pizza contains asiago cream sauce topped with wild mushrooms and walnuts topped with mozzarella, parmesan cheese, and truffle oil. This is definitely a pizza for vegetarians.

The Black Pizza, which contains gruyere, mozzarella, pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions. The black pizza was quite unique but nothing outstanding. It's more of a novelty actually.
