CRU Steakhouse

It is rare nowadays to go to a restaurant that requires a dress code and doesn't allow children 12 years and below to dine inside. You know that when a restaurant has these rules, its going to be a pretty fancy place and food will be really high end and plated nicely.

CRU meets all these and more. It starts at the entrance where there is a fire inspired piece of art and it just gives off the impression that the night will definitely be full of passion and intense flavors.

There are couches that are meant to give privacy to diners. I think this is best for couples on a date or businesses that are about to be finalized. The curve of the headrest gives that extra privacy to the CRU diner.

This area is meant for families and friends. CRU allows diners in this area to watch the meat being grilled. I think this is a good experience for people since most of the time with fine dining, how the food is cooked is never really shown to the diners.

We had the set menu. I chose the steak and my friend chose the salmon set. The steak set is priced at Php3300 and the salmon set is priced at Php2600.

We started off with appetizers. I think this Amuse Bouche was too small. It tasted so good that I could have finished about 8pcs of this but I think they were right to serve just one since if I eat 8 of these, I'd be a bit full.

This CRU crab cake is part of the Salmon Set. This is made of celeriac apple slaw and remoulade sauce. I love that when I bit into it, pieces of the crab bits simply fell off. You know that you are definitely paying good money for great food.

The Baby Spinach Salad on the other hand which comes from the Steak Set contained orange, blue cheese crumble, walnut in parmesan crisp, and light mustard dressing. If you are not a fan of greens, you will not like this. Thankfully, I am and so I enjoyed every single bite.

The server who attended us was a genius. When she realized that we wanted to be able to try both the steak and the salmon, she suggested that we do our food surf and turf style so we had the best of both worlds.

My meat was medium well and the salmon was cooked just right. This plate has Grilled Certified Angus Beef Prime Rib Eye as well as the Grilled Salmon Norwegian Fillet. I loved my steak. It was cooked medium well. You have no idea how many restaurants get this all wrong. The salmon on the other hand was just heaven. It was heaven!

These are condiments that go well with the steak. I love the mint jelly. I was so happy that they had this as part of their condiments.

The service in CRU was impeccable. The attendants were very attentive. I never had to cal twice and I never had to follow up on any request. I loved it! It was exactly what a high end restaurant should be.

When I got back to my room, this was on the side table. This was very sweet of CRU management.

CRU is located on the ground floor of Marriott Hotel Manila.

* I was invited to review the food. I did not pay for my meal. However, the free meal did not in any way sway my opinion and everything you read here is MY PERSONAL OPINION.

  1. So nice of you to share this. I have seen this resto featured on Kris TV and was very curious. Pricey but for the right occasion, this is fine. - Fred

  2. Wow. All the food looked delicious! But it seemed that the portions were small. Anyway, I consider CRU great for celebrating special occasions with the family.
