Ippudo is finally here!

Set to open this Wednesday, September 10, 2014, Ippudo has been making a lot of noise not just with the foodies of Manila but with the influencers of the society such as Maxene and Saab Magalona who are known to enjoy a meal or two.

To say that I was ecstatic to have been invited to a private tasting event before it opened to the public is an understatement. Soon as I got to Ippudo, I started taking photos.

The place had a very earthy feel to it due to the wooden interiors and muted colors. I liked that it gave off a really warm vibe. It felt very Asian which I liked because lately, too many Asian restaurants try so hard to be Americanized which I really find wrong.

They served us around 5 of their specialties and of course for the main dish which was the ramen, I chose the classic dish which is called the Shiromaru Motoaji Ramen. This is a classic broth which is Ippudo's original tonkatsu broth served with ultra thin noodles, pork loins, bean sprouts, kikurage, and spring onions.

Honestly, I was apprehensive about this because I have tried a couple of ramen places and save for one, I wasn't impressed with whatever they had to offer by way of a ramen.

However, I took one sip of this and it was like, "HALLELUJAH!" Finally, a ramen that was authentic and simply oh so delicious. The noodles were al dente and the meat was so soft you almost don't need to chew it.

Dashimaki Tamago, Curry Cheese Harumaki, Goma-Q, and Gyoza

The appetizers were actually too good in their jobs that they not only whet your appetite and make you want more but it also leaves you filling half full already so I would suggest being very careful with these or else you might not have room for the ramen.

They also offer really cute utensils for those who have kids. I think though that its actually the Moms who will enjoy these adorable plates from Ippudo.

Thank you so much Ippudo for inviting me over to this private tasting. I didn't expect the food to be this good and I was pleasantly surprised. Kudos to you guys. Kudos!

* I was invited to review the food. I did not pay for my meal. However, the free meal did not in any way sway my opinion and everything you read here is MY PERSONAL OPINION.

  8. I thought that ramen noodles are not favorable to kids because of the complexity of the tastes that not everyone appreciates. It's good that Ippudo has these cute utensils and plates, to encourage kids to also taste and eat ramen even on their own.

    1. My son loves Ramen. I think it depends on what they grew up. In my situation, I ensure that my kid is exposed to different kinds of food so he would know the different dishes he can have. :)
