a child's work of art ...

Having some Mommy friends has made me realize that it seems my Mom and I may be more sentimental or cherish different things than other Moms. A Mom friend of mine throws away the art works of her child because its too much clutter. Another sees it as trash. Some of them don't take photos to capture the moments.

I realized that as a blogger, it is my duty to help these Moms learn how to appreciate the work of their kids or at the very least, learn how to preserve those artworks for years to come. After all, your child made it, you should appreciate it.

Here are some things that I recommend being done.

1. Compile all the works of art of your child on an annual basis and then have it book binded. This is what I did with my works of art as well as those of my brothers. My Mom kept all of it so I had all of them book binded.

2. Laminate the pieces of paper and use it as a placemat. It's a great conversation starter when you have guests and it will also make your child feel more special seeing that you are using his work of arts inside the household.

3. Get 100 pages of blank bond paper and have it bookbinded. Paste on it any artworks that your child has created. Ta-da! Instant personalized book of art. :)

I think this is a good start for any Moms out there. I hope you guys will be able to use these ideas. Let me know if you do. I'd love to see what you've done. :)

  1. I wish my mother-in-law did the same for Chris as I would have liked to see his artworks during his childhood. Chris told me a lot of stories about his art experiments/art creations (the ones he can remember) and I was fascinated. Now I just wish our future kid/s will have the same gift that Chris had (the gift to draw and create) so I can document every little thing he/she does.

  9. This is a very nice idea, Kathy! Too bad, none of us are artistically inclined. Nevertheless, book binding is an easy, less time consuming and affordable alternative for scrapbooking. :)
