Mezza Norte: Papeyot

Papeyot is derived from "en papiete" which is a French term for "cooking by steam into foil or parchment." Can you guess how they cook their food then? Yep, its steamed with foil. Nope, not parchment coz parchment burns and we don't want burnt food.

Mr Jed Baluyot (middle) is one of the owners and formerly works for Atlantis Hotel. He said that one of his mission is to give people a healthy option of cooking meat from raw to cooked without using oil.

Some of the viands that they sell are Chicken Teriyaki, Chicken Hainanese, Fish Sambal, and Pork with Coconut Cream. You need to try the Pork with Coconut Cream. I am not a fan of coconut cream but this just blew me away. I actually ended up eating 1 cup of rice because it just tasted so good with the rice. It was a perfect combination. I think it was the little hint of bagoong that gave it an edge and boy what an edge it was. Best part? Each meal costs only Php99. What a steal right?

Here is how it is cooked.

They cut the meat in sukiyaki cuts and then put some onion, brown garlic, carrots, and radish then wrap it in a foil and let it cook for 3-4 minutes. Tada! A meal fit for anyone.

So next time you want some healthy options, head on over to Papeyot. Your tummy would love you, your heart will adore you, and your wallet won't murder you.

To contact them, tweet, IG, and FB are all the same ID: papeyot =)

* I was invited to review the food. I did not pay for my meal. However, the free meal did not in any way sway my opinion and everything you read here is MY PERSONAL OPINION.
