I was able to watch Battalia Royale at CCP and boy was it an experience. Battalia Royale is an adaptation of the movie Battle Royale. It is dark, disturbing, brilliant, and a play at society's norms. It will make you question yourself and reveal what you really are as a person.
I honestly didn't know what to expect but I was definitely blown away. It was an EXPERIENCE. Running around the promenade area and getting to watch 3 simultaneous scenes play out is not something you normally encounter when watching plays.
He is the main reason why I watched. I have always been in awe of how he acts and I wanted to see it firsthand. I'm glad he was also very nice and allowed for this photo to be taken at the start of the show.
The stage is set at the promenade area so it was a good thing that it didn't rain last night. As mentioned, it is a stage like no other.

Overall, I don't regret watching this show. I wish that people would watch it since this is a new experience and a different attack on how stage plays should be staged.
If you have time, please catch them tonight and tomorrow at CCP, 730pm. Best part? It's pay what you can and open to the public.
So, this play tackled all about our society's multi-faceted cancer. Does it exposes more of the dark side than the light? I'm intrigued and would be willing to watch. But what can I do? I'm miles distant away. huhuhu! And parang sa labas ang play. Galing ng concept ah!
ReplyDeleteSino yong lead actor? does he only do plays or he appears din sa TV? :)))
I have copies of battle royale films but I never get to watch it full. Creepy eh. :(

ReplyDeleteI actually love the first Battle Royale movie! :D It's violent, but it's quite entertaining and witty. The 2nd movie though was bad.. >.< Anyway, it's nice there's a play version. And I love the fact that it's not set on just a mere stage.. :) Experience nga talaga ;)

Kathy it seems to me that you enjoyed the kiss more than the actual play ha ha ha! Joke! Anyway, I love watching plays. Maybe next time we could watch a play together.
ReplyDeleteI hope to see you soon dear Kathy!
is that kuya bogie from batibot? nice and unique play... along with the audience. Yahweh bless.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the title is from Bisayan dialect. The costumes of the actors and actress is very familiar to me. Those uniforms are from Stella Maris Academny in Davao. Just a thought are they from Davao City? BTW looks like a brilliant play.
