Buwan ng Wika (Filipino Week)

My sister was going to be part of the parade for the Filipino Week being held in school. We were not able to buy a costume for her last Sunday, hence, the need to improvise. I decided to make her a Muslim princess because that was the easiest one I could think of. Here are the results. Let me know what you think okay?

Pretty right?

oat covered sole fish with mango salsa sauce

My brother, the chef, decided to cook last night for dinner. This is what we had ... it was so good. He took some fillet, flavored it, covered it with oats, and then made some mango salsa.

Darn! It was SO good. And I don't even like fish to begin with. It was THAT good.

PITSO

I have been passing by this place everyday when I go home. The smell of the chicken is so intoxicating. I knew it was not the cleanest thing to eat but it was just so damn good. I like chicken, a lot. I like the way it smells, the way it tastes, and how I never get tired of it.

So, I bought one. And before I ate it, I prayed over the chicken. I prayed that it would be clean and not full of germs. LOL.

in love once again

"You know what makes me smile nowadays?
It's the fact that I have been single for the last 3 months
and I didn't even notice it.
I am finally happy in my own skin,
being on my own, doing things on my own.
Finally, I have fallen in love with the most amazing person on earth ...
MYSELF!"

Rockwell with Rochelle and family

Here we are eating at Burgoo where Rochelle and family treated my family and I. It was a great dinner filled with anecdotes about life and love. It was fun catching up amidst taking care of small children who compete with the attention of their Moms.

These are the citymugs Rochelle got me. It is now added to my collection of citymugs, making it 47 at last count. I feel very happy to have such supportive friends.

And here I am with Rochelle and my goddaughter who takes after both of us, very snobbish too. LOL. She's gorgeous isn't she?

This is what I had for dinner, yep ... a salad ... to be exact, it was a Caesar Seafood Supreme Salad. It was heavenly. I loved the calamari, I loved the seafood.

And here, to add to another growing collection of mine, are ref magnets. I have over 100 at last count. I no longer know how many I have but I know that I love these ones as well.

Overall, it was another great night spent with family and friends. I love nights like these.

Pre-birthday Bash: Sonya's and Nuvali

We went to Sonya's Garden (my entire family and I) courtesy of Lans who treated us. We left early in the morning and got there at 830 am. It was drizzling which left us chilly but in a really good way. We had hot choco at Sonya's Garden and it was just really, really good. We ordered the Continental Breakfast and they served us bacons, omelette, cornflakes, hotdog, jam, and bread. It was Php470 per head but it was unlimited for most of the foods being served.

After pigging out, we took the opportunity to hold a photo session and I could see that my Mom truly enjoyed her stay at Sonya's. Lans got her some rose scented spray which truly smelled like roses. We also saw some snails and a lot of truly gorgeous flowers.

We then went to Nuvali and fed some fish. My Mom and my siblings along with our Lola also rode the boat and had fun with it. Lunch was at David's Tea House where we truly pigged out ang was surprised that the bill wasn't as high as we thought it would be.

It was a pre-birthday bash given by Lans for himself and Lola but with the way the day turned out, I felt that it was actually us who was celebrating their birthday. We went home full, happy, and looking forward to the next one.

Lola's 73rd Birthday

This is the cake we got for my Lola. It's Mango Sansrival. I don't like mango cakes in general nor Sansrival but this one was quite good.

This is my Lola. She's 73 now.

This is our family.

It was our Lola's 73rd birthday today. We were all not at home since we had to work but we made sure that we brought home some cake, pizza, and chicken. It was very simple but what truly mattered is that we made her feel special, because she is special.

Oh, and the cake was lovely to look at.

Starbucks Citymug: Paris, France, Singapore

Lans got me this through e-bay. How cool is that? I LOVE IT!

Both are from Max. I was supposed to pay him for it but I never saw him again so I guess a thank you is in order. LOL.

I now have 42 mugs. WHEEEE!

my precious bauble in a pile of stone

with our sons
with Ian, the crazy but sensible one
grilled food!!!
the kids fooling around

They say that sometimes, in a pile of worthless stone, there is one piece of bauble that would be so shiny that it would make going through all the dirt worth it. I am glad that i went through that pile of stone in my current workplace and have found Laine. She is my one bauble in a pile of stones.

She's far away now and it will be a while before I see her again. I feel sad but happy. Sad because I no longer have her nearby to share daily anecdotes with but happy because she finally got what she wanted. I do look forward to seeing her again soon ... and most likely bashing heads with her because we need to get her wedding done asap. LOL.

Take care friend ... and don't forget, no matter what ... you cannot go back here without my citymugS. LOL.

the butterfly effect: philippine hostage drama

It has been said that something as small
as the flutter of a butterfly's wing
can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world.

This is what I would call a great example of what the butterfly effect is. Someone decided somewhere that a police officer should get fired for unbecoming behavior and fires that police officer. It all ends in a bloodbath inside a tourist bus on a fine Monday morning. Who would have thought it would all lead to this? The Philippines is now in the news once again and all because one day, someone fired an officer.

Crazy huh? Sad too ... sad for those lives lost for no good reason at all. Sad for the reputations tarnished ... sad for the senselessness of it all.

It is a tragedy. This is another black moment in our history.

blown over

The wind has blown me over
far away from you
yet you seem to have not noticed
you seem not to care.

I want to be with you
You’re my tree
it is with you that I belong.

But here I am
floating in the wind
waiting to be noticed
waiting to be loved.

we are a family of artists

I was in the car earlier today when it suddenly hit me ... I come from a family of artists. We may not be celebrities nor famous for what we do but everyone in my family is an artist in one way or another.

My Mom is our interior decorator. She is always nagging us to keep the house in order and she keeps busy making the house look presentable, neat, and clean. She's OC at times but she does accomplish the look she is going for.

My Dad is the graphic designer. Our business is Silkscreen Printing but we at times provide the clients with options on designs and my Dad makes sure that all designs are of good taste and sellable. He has managed to get us all through school with this art of his.

I am a writer, or at least I would like to think I am. I am also the avid scrapbooker in the family, keeping tabs of what is happening and the memories being created. Note to self: I should start scrapbooking again.

My brother Karl is the programmer which is an art in itself. Its an abstract in my opinion for only the creator truly understands what he is doing. The other twin, Kirk, is a chef and is the great artist in the kitchen.

My lil sister, K, is a wannabe artist ... she dances, recites poetry, sings off key and is still trying to truly find her inner diva. I do know she will find her self one day.

My son ... is a belter. He sings on key and easily memorizes song lyrics. I know that one day, he will be a songbird. I plan to support him in his endeavor.

So there you go ... it seems I really do come from a family of artists. And for now, this star is off to make my brain bleed and do some content writing. LOL.

money money oh honey

Its funny ... some people will really be pushed to do things they never would do simply because of money. They would talk to someone they vowed never to talk to again all because of money. I'm glad I never had to stoop that low.

because the baby is now a lady

This is a photo I took of my little sister. She is only 10. She looks at least 14 in these pictures. Sniff. She's growing up way too fast.

Mochipia

Recently, I was able to try the Mochipia of Eng Bee Tin and it was so good. I didn't expect it to be that good since the idea of combining hopia and tikoy was a little bit iffy for me. Guess what? It was really good. I loved it.

The combination is a little different but they managed to mix it in a way that it tastes so good. Try it! Let me know what you think.

Daddy's Surprise Party - 60th Birthday

It was a success! I have so many pimples on my face now from all the stress but it was worth it. My Dad was surprised, the entire crew sang to him, there was a HUGE kickass cake that was so good, and all the guests who were invited came. Every single one. The family was complete and the party went on in a very chillax kind of way.

It was really great. Yey ME! Hahahahaha ....
