HSBC Family Day

We sure had a blast today and it's all because our company held it's annual family day. Last year, there was no theme but this year, we did it rodeo style. Apparently, I am to never live in Texas since I lasted on the bull ride for 1 ... 2 ... 3 ... 4 ... 5 seconds flat before looking like this.

that's me, unceremoniously being thrown off the bull .. see the white glove? that's my hand

nanny cel with a snake

My sister also had a blast since there were giant slides and put the star on the sheriff kind of thing. I am just so grateful that I have moved to the bank and I feel happy with the environment I am in. Toxic as the workload may seem, I know that I am blessed to be in such a situation.

a new beginning ....

Last Saturday, my lil sister graduated from kindergarten. It was very touching since they had so many performances and it was the first time I saw my lil sister performing. She looked beautiful. It's a new beginning for her now. She's entering grade school (middle school) and it won't be all about friends and studies. Sooner, rather than later, there would be issues to deal with. I just hope that she will be strong and of right mind when she makes decisions about things she will go through.

For now, she is still our lil princess. Don't you agree?

cravings

Has this ever happened to you? You know, one day, you're just sitting there, probably doing work or reading other blogs when suddenly you get hit by a sudden craving? A craving so bad that you just have to go out and buy whatever it is that got you salivating?

I'm craving buttered shrimp right now but alas! It's almost 11 in the evening and there is no way that H would get one for me. I'm not pregnant, that I'm sure but I really am wanting a plateful of these.

What are you craving for right now? Grab a chair, let's have a bite.

beach babe

I hears its really cold at some places there. Here, it's very hot. So I thought, why don't we all go for a stroll in the beach. Pictured above is one of the most famous beach resorts here in my country. Boracay. See the sand? Won't it fell all warm and soft when we walk in it? Take off your shoes, try wriggling your toes in it. Can you feel the wind? Isnt't that much better than biting cold wind or humid air?

I love the beach though I don't know how to swim? What about you?

some tips to save some cents

Since I am on a savings mood ... I have thought long and hard on how we can save on even a few money. I also know that every single one of you would want to save money so here are a few things that I have thought of to save money.

1) Use these plastic Ziplocks

2) you know those ketchup fillers (McDonalds) or sugar fillers at Starbucks, hoard. Lol! It would be great to put in the brown bags of yor kids that they take to school instead of buying ketchup and putting it in those plastic containers.

3) do not iron clothes when you're just about to wear them ... iron ALL clothes once a week to save on electricity ... and don't iron at night ...

Got any more tips? Lemme know!

B Stories

This is the B at North Park, a Chinese Resto. He loves the free soup that they give away to keep the natives from rioting since food takes long to cook. Lol!

Handsome lil big boy huh? I am such a proud Mommy. He was well behaved too except when he threw that glass he was holding into the soup and it went all over the place. Then he laughed like a banshee.

munimuni # 21

It's been quite some weeks since I did a weekend reflection. Becoming so busy is not an excuse to not be able to thank the blessings that come our way. So here's a list of the things I am thankful for.

1) a steady job that pays really well
2) good health though not all of us are sick free (we have colds that won't go away)
3) a really good support system

I haven't spent as much time with the tornado as much as I should nor saved money as much as we should have so I'm not so happy about that but then again, I know we can improve our situation.

How was your week?

big breakfast

They say that to start a day real good, you need to have a big breakfast. Right now, this is what I'm craving for. The big breakfast at Jollibee (pictured above). For those who don't know what Jollibee is, it's the local enemy of McDonalds in the Philippines. I think in this battle of big breakfast, Jollibee won fair and square since the big breakfast of McDo here is not really that big and only contains egg, rice, and a burger patty. The one from Jollibee has a pancake, hotdog, rice, chicken meat, and egg. Yummy!

B stories

The B always has cereal, chicken, rice, and potato with soup for brekafast and he finishes off with a banana. Might big appetite for a pretty small toddler.
What do you normally have for breakfast?

why are we never content?

I'm pretty sure most of you have asked this question once or twice or maybe a million times in your life, depending on the age. I'm probably at about a hundred thousand now considering my age.

So again, why are we never content? Why do we keep wanting something on the other side of the fence and then when we get to the other side of the face, we suddenly realize that we were just peachy being on the other side? Did I make sense?

I used to have a job where I barely do nothing and I kept complaining and saying that I wanted to have more to do. I kept wanting to have lots of workload to keep me busy. So I wished for it. Now I got it. And I realize that okay, maybe being relaxed at work was not a bad thing after all.

I am so busy with stuff at work now I barely have time for anything else. Proof? I have 6 new magazines that I haven't read yet and I got them last Monday. It's Friday now and they are still in pristine condition.

Another is I received a parcel notice from the post office and usually I would be hauling my fat you know what ASAP but now, I can't make the time. Huhuhu.

Sigh. Why are we never content? Tell me, why?

bits of B

The B can now make the McDo sign with his hands whenever we say, Mcdo. He looks really cute too. I'll post a pic soon.

He's also into spitting saliva into his hands and putting it on his skin like you would a lotion. Or into my leg then he would give me the biggest grin ever. Hmpf! How can I get mad at that?

He's also learning to dance and I will try to capture it on video and post it here.

Aside from that, my brain is simply mush. I am drowning with work stuff.

desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
Gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

signs of a happy home ...

The pictures above were taken early today. I think those two pictures depict a happy home. For me, it's not all about maintaining everything in an orderly manner but more of making sure that you allow your kid to be able to play and learn things on his own. The first picture shows that I let him play in the bathroom so he can learn about cleaning himself and having fun doing it. The next one shows that I let him turn our floor into his canvas. He's slowly getting the idea that the floor needs to be yellow for him to draw things on it. Thank God our floor is white and brown.

What is the sign of a happy home to you?

Banana Spring Rolls

Been a lil bit busy since I'm officially gonna be on the floor next week. Lots of things to learn and learn it I must since I will be handling other people's money.

So here's a recipe that I think you must all try since it's healthy and tasty. Surely will be a best seller on barbecue parties or as a midday snack.

Wish me luck. Send me hugs. Pray for me. I really need it.
